I have had the truck for exactly one month now and Ford Streaming trial expired. Since I did not use any of the features, I decided it is not worth the $10/month subscription for me.
Since then, FordPass is not getting any updates from my truck such as battery percentage, trips, charging status, etc,. Any data that comes from/to the truck from/to FordPass is now not working. No remote start/stop/lock/unlock. All of this while the truck is in the garage with perfect wifi signal as a backup for communication. Is this how the system is supposed to work after Ford Streaming expiration?

Ford does not want to pay for mobile data is something I understand, but truck not communicating over Wifi is not acceptable behavior. If anyone has had similar issues and knows about a solution, your response would be appreciated.

Steaming has nothing to do with FordPass.

Yes, nothing to do with streaming and FordPass. You can also have your truck connected to WiFi. My streaming expired yesterday... Have zero interest in renewing it. Maybe if they actually had a product to offer, I would.

I'll try it and report back. There must be an option to hard reboot without having to go through this hassle.

Basically the fordpass app is useless to me if it doesn't update things without a subscription.

To reboot Sync, hold the volume down and right seek for 10 seconds.

FordPass does not require a subscription, although features on it do. It works over cellular, not WiFi. It also works, when PaaK is enabled, via Bluetooth.

I think all of this goes back to the issue that they are having with inconsistent communication from the modem, especially prevalent on 2023 models. The expiring of streaming services is probably completely coincidental unless somehow streaming services was interacting with the modem on a regular basis, preventing it from “going to sleep”

My streaming services expired about 3 weeks ago and yesterday was the 1st time my FordPass stopped working and didn’t come back. The 12V battery disconnect did work for me, but it still does have lapses in updating to the point that it makes me nervous that it is stuck offline

For most embedded applications on vehicles, there is a timer that will reboot the system at least once every few days to clear out memory errors in the ROM/RAM when the vehicle is not operational/occupied. This is true for most airplanes and trains as well. Hope there is something similar in our trucks.

I have the pro and will try the volume+right seek button trick to manually reboot sync.

Mine also stopped communicating yesterday. In fact I can pinpoint it to around 11:30-12:00 am ET yesterday. I tried removing the fuse for the modem, and also unplugging it overnight and neither reset it (read this in other threads). I may try the battery disconnect later, but it's been very cold out so I may just wait.

Also curious if those who experienced outages in the past day or so have received the 4.1.2 updated yet? I received 4.1.1 last week and was expecting the new one any day now and it's interesting to see so many experiencing this issue at the exact same day/time...

I know they are aware of an issue, but how are they going to fix it in an OTA update if people's modems are randomly freezing/not connecting? Do the OTA's somehow bypass this? I wouldn't necessarily expect the average person to come to these forums to read to disconnect the 12v battery to reset.

I too suffered the dreaded FordPass/Modem issue starting around 10:30am yesterday. This is my second time. I have one of the few 2023 XLTs out so far for 23’ and in the first event, around the time of my 4.1.1. update about 2 weeks ago, I did the forum search and did the negative battery terminal top disconnect. It worked and everything was fine again (minus the frunk manual close one time thingy) until yesturday. I do want to add another anomaly. I cannot speak to the first time, as I was frustrated already, but I did notice that Apple CarPlay also disconnected this time. I was able to renegotiate CarPlay, which is great, but this does give credence to the idea that this has something to do with the vehicle, whether modem or something else, and not necessarily the FordPass App Itself. I find it hard to imagine that with the frequency this is happening that Ford is unaware. They should respond to their customers on this item.

I am running 4.1.1. and have the same issue. Reinstalling the app didn't do anything. I had some of my connected features off so I thought may be Ford is taking the app hostage until I agree to give them everything. Turned everything on and still no dice. No impact with Sync reset. I have not done battery disconnect yet.

p.s. Last update on my app is January 27th 2:36 PM eastern time. I also get a message on the app (under Vehicle) that partial response is received.

I received the 4.1.1 update sometime last week. I'm wondering if it broke the modem.

The soft reset using volume+tune for sync does nothing. It's very cold here so I'll be trying the battery terminal trick over the weekend when it gets a bit warmer. Also if we can recieve updates over Wifi, why not let Fordpass communicate using wifi. BTW, I have the 12 inch screen, wondering if that has something to do with 4.1.1. Maybe the hardware underneath is different than the 15 inch screen.

I am afraid of OTA side effects but I had my 4.1.1 installed a week before last update on my app. I definitely wouldn’t rule it out but I wonder if it would take a week to kill the app.

I have the 15 inch screen and have had the same experience. It seems more than coincidental that so many people are experiencing this around the same time of day on the same update version (with another incoming). I wonder if something glitched when they pushed out a wave of 4.1.2 OTA updates?

I'll try the 12v disconnect tonight and provide an update. Wifi isn't a great option for me for OTAs unless I park my truck in the front yard.
