Ford is retiming the launch of its groundbreaking electric truck code-named “Project T3” to the second half of 2027. Taking all the learnings from F-150 Lightning customers, the truck will offer features and experiences never seen on any Ford truck, including upgraded bi-directional charging capability and advanced aerodynamics. The truck will be assembled at BlueOval City’s Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center.

T3 = new Lightning.

One of the reasons it's been pushed back is because they changed it from only a fully electric truck to having an EREV option on the same platform.

Are we all going to just skip over this statement by a guy who works in the factory??

The EREV option makes a ton of sense to replace the current hybrid option.

I’ll add to the unproven speculation . If I’m Ford I’d be simultaneously designing the ground up universal EV platform (smaller EVs like Ranger size, Explorer, etc) but also continuing to evolving the full sized F150 Lightning. Gen 1 Lightning was an ICE F150 converted into an EV. The Gen 2 Lightning might be a fresh start born as an EV but also shape the future of the ICE/Hybrid F150’s as well.

Full disclosure. I don't work at the Tennessee "Blue Oval City". I work at DTP and have had conversations with engineers about the next model Lightning.

Then why immediately pull the information off their profiles now? If they were 2 years old, I would say the horse has already left the barn.

Because right now is when it suddenly got attention....at the time that Ford is quietly discussing the very future of the product.

I am confident, based on things I've seen as well as statements from Ford, that they are actively working on a EREV F-150. Assuming that there is an EREV F-150, a BEV F-150 could be as easy as leaving the ICE engine and generator out.

IMO F ought to take a page from 90s BMW and sell "one sausage in three different lengths" (https://www.jalopnik.com/which-car-company-did-same-sausage-different-lengths-t-1665363701/) IOW an F150, Ranger, Maverick lineup that's basically the same truck with three different battery pack sizes and motor sizes. Vehicles are all more or less the same width, it's the length that varies, so rather than spend the money to engineer multiple independent platforms, make them all variants of the same sausage sharing most of their other parts... Just my 2 cents...

T3 is F150 size. Universal EV is Maverick (not Ranger) size.

I asked someone with first-hand knowledge about the sizes and that is what they told me.

The only other thing I got was that the T3 "looks good."
