Glare Free Headlights - Use Case

Well I'm getting access to Forscan again tonight. Going to triple check everything and report back. Will have a long, dark, and rural drive back to the burbs to see if it finally does what everyone says it should be doing.

Thank you for posting this as a reference for my double check. We missed the APIM module reset. That did the trick.

As a city driver, I can confirm that this mod is worth it. If you’re not noticing it, something is wrong.

I was expecting to see more of the side of the road based on what others said. I assumed it was just going to be the passenger side. The driver side of the road and bar ditches are completely illuminated. It took me by surprise.

I do notice some reflective signs wig it out.

It’s obvious when it’s working. I was pulling up to a 4 way stop. A car coming toward me turned, and I watched a black rectangle follow the car as it passed across me. I’m really impressed and am no longer considering going back to auto high beams.

Well we had a thick heavy fog last night here in Kansas. Had a chance to drive 50 miles through it. What I found is that with the headlights switch in the regular 3rd position with the green headlight and automatic brights and dims that it automatically switches to brights in the heavy fog. It would pick up an oncoming car and dim for it but then go back to bright. Of course that was just to blinding to see much. Had to switch it over to the 4th headlamp position and run on dims all the time. I tried the brights and the brights in the 4th position was the same as in the automatic 3rd position.

So for now I'm going to add a couple fog lights. I have a couple auxiliary lights on my other pickup that mount with a 1/2" bolt which I can drill a hole down low in the bumper cover. Just need a switch and maybe a relay and where to wire it to. Any ideas? Can I order a switch and relay from Amazon?

On another note, I sat on a dark road the other night and cycled through brights and dims in the 3rd headlight automatic position and the 4th headlamp manual position just watching the ditches. In all of those changes I never saw a flicker of light change in the ditches on the sides. Those side lights were just solid.

Could you toggle off the glare free lights in the settings menu so that it didn't revert to high beams?

You can turn it off with the high beam stalk or the sync screen.

Well, duh, I didn't think of that.

Edit after stalk post, and I guess doing on the sync screen turns off glare free but leaving glare free on with the round headlight switch in automatic and then turning automatic off with the stalk will achieve leaving it in dims with glare free as well. I can still do manual brights with the stalk or go back to automatic brights.

Drove it last night in the fog that wasn't quite as thick with the brights on for a while. Suppose to have fog tonight in the forecast. Will try it but I drive through 13 miles of deer crossing country to get to the farm which is why I wanted the glare free to start with. I've just slowed down to 45-50 on the state highway 56 and let people cuss and pass this old man. I've already totaled out a vehicle hitting a deer, it's someone else's turn to reduce the population and make roads safer. At the end of the year we have another rifle season starting on Jan 1 for 11 days. They will be on the move again and we are approaching a full moon on Jan 3. I need to take my front bumper off to finalize my design for my own bumper to be welded up and made.
