Its a very simple solution. You prioritize carplay's realtime data when carpplay is available. If not, attempt to hit the FordPass API. If neither is available, give the stupid error about the "battery data is not accurate".
Maybe a “battery status may be incorrect until connecting to CarPlay” would be a better error.

As for the other discussion, is it that much of a hassle to connect before saying where you want to go? It’s not like ABRP where you can adjust stops and save (unless they’ve added it in 26), so if you’re in your house or in your car, does it matter when you choose a place to go and find directions? I plan my long trips days before and do this on the desktop so I’ve got it all planned out and organized. So I’m not really caring what Apple thinks my SOC is

With the state of things right now, I do not disagree with anything you said. That is why I called it low hanging fruit to move Maps into the right direction. It would not make Apple Maps a great planning tool, agreed.

I'm with Timeless Epoch, if Siri can now tell me by battery percentage there is no reason that cannot be pulled into maps to use for route plannning. At the very least, let me manually enter an SOC when trip planning.

For me it's (hopefully) getting pinch to zoom in Apple Maps in CarPlay. I never understood why Ford's native maps app supported it but CarPlay didn't. This article and referenced video say we're finally getting multi-touch gestures (if Ford supports it).

Does anyone in the beta know if you can use multitouch on maps? I think I would install the beta just for that.

Waze doesn't have multitouch yet and I have the Waze beta as well

Edit: I'll check Apple Maps and Google maps tonight when I go out
