I asked for suggestions a while back about measuring a Lightning to see if it will fit in my garage with shorter than normal doors. Thanks for some good ideas. My salesman went the extra mile with some scenarios, and I concluded we’re OK, but barely. picked up the truck yesterday and…success! Can’t wait to start the EV journey.

Congrats! You have so much room! I have a house built in the 50s, and I didn't think my Lightning would fit in the garage. Turns out, if I'm veeeery, very careful, I can get it in with -- literally-- 1 inch clearance behind and 1 inch clearance in front. Sides are enough to get in and out, but the front/back are tiiiight. :)

It’s a much bigger truck than I expected but I've never owned a truck before. I have plenty of vertical space. It’s a little tight to one side and I have enough room to access the tailgate or trunk, one or the other at any given time, when the overhead door is closed. Also, before this, I kept my vehicles outdoors. Being BEV I wanted it indoors during winter for efficiency and charger access. This is also my first vehicle I got new so I wanted to protect it more.

done with work!
Mines tighter than yours. 1/4 inch (front has to kiss the back wall). Glad you fit. Same here last 3 trucks kept outside. This one gets inside when needing home charger.

Congrats! And I'm jealous of you being able to park it inside.

Similar situation here.
I have about 3" of clearance between the roof and the garage door opener arm. And that was after I sawed off the extra length of metal that extended down further.

I did have to remove the whip antenna to keep it from rubbing against the open garage door.

When I test drove mine, I drove it to my home and pulled it into the garage to make sure it would fit before I purchased it. The salesman was checking to make sure the roof and garage door did not scrape.

we have a 1985 version of the 'double car' garage... and I hope they build them bigger now-a-days... while both of our vehicles will fit in, side-to-side, my LIGHTNING and her Kia EV9 SUV, being careful with door openings, my LIGHTING has about 1/2" in front and back, to let the garage door down. In this parking scenario, I also cannot open the frunk, or the tailgate, for sure. She cannot open her rear door, either...oh well. This is one of my wife's biggest annoyances.

The standard door opening heights seem to be just fine, but, yes, if you consider some newer EVs, like the VW Buzz, or the not yet available Kia PV5, maybe not... but, those with sloping driveway entrances to the garage could be problematic even with standard garage door heights, due to the 'angle' of the vehicle while entering, exiting...

I hung several chair pillows on the wall ahead of the truck, to give me something to 'kiss', as I park, removing 'AutoHold' so that the truck can 'creep' toward the stopping point, just depressing the pillows. This leaves about 1/2" at the rear of the truck, for the hinges of the garage door to pass as it closes. I can't keep the ball within the hitch, though. It's TIGHT, yes. And, there is NO option to get to the other side of the truck, for sure.

When we build our 'dream home', maybe for retirement, we'll certainly take this into consideration!
Maybe this layout is about 20' x 20', or so, but I'll be planning for something much larger, wider, deep, and taller, and even room for some storage, as well.

I COULD fit my truck in my garage if I emptied it out and somehow pulled in sideways across all 3 spaces 🤣.

I have not been able to park any vehicle in the garage - ever. Always lived in single family houses with a 2 car garage, but one of my issues is that I always have multiple 2-way radio antennas that require more height than a typical garage. One of my maybe plans is to tear down my garage and rebuild it with one side being large enough for a motorhome. I don't have a motorhome and don't have any plan to get one, but that will give me space to park any pickup in the garage...
Unfortunately my garage currently had way too much crap in it..
