Maybe I missed this being discussed elsewhere, but I ran into this issue just now. This is my first time DC charging after I got the PT-25.8.5 update which locks the charge port on the truck when DC charging.
I pulled up to Elecrify America charger, plugged in (plug n charge) and the session started. I then locked my truck to go into the store. About a minute later the DC charge session failed. So I unlocked the truck, pulled out the charger and started over. I did the same thing; plugged in, waited for the session to start, then locked my truck. A minute later the DC session failed again.
I then started over once again, but this time I locked the truck first, then plugged in the charger. Session started and this time it kept going without failing. Is this just a random fluke at my DC charger? Or do you now have to lock the truck first and THEN start a DC charge session?

I just did a long road trip (after receiving the charge port update) and definitely locked the truck multiple times after starting a charge. That included plug and charge sessions at Ionna and Tesla sessions I started from the Tesla app. I did not experience this. My experience is that anything weird that happens at an Electrify America charger is probably EA’s fault.

Ok this is good to hear. Next time I DC charge I’ll try a Tesla or Ionna one and double check. Thanks for letting me know!

I've DC Fast Charged while the truck is running and while the truck is off and locked the truck to go inside. Not once did it ever stop charging. Obviously I also charge at home with the truck locked while off and it continues to charge.

I've done several non plug and charge sessions and haven't encountered it yet. 2 EAs and the rest Tesla.

I’ve found anytime you are charging on EA, you need to periodically check the Ford app to make sure it’s still charging. I would say even generally reliable (new) EA chargers have between a 5 and 10% chance of unexpected pauses.

This is good to know about EA chargers. Come to think of it this might have been only my second time using one of those. I usually use Tesla for fast charging. So apparently this was just an EA issue.
