My 23 Lariat ER has only 56 percent power available, but I'm not sure why.

I went to gym this morning and she ran great, just like she has for the 30 months I've had the truck. On the way back, I went to pass a car and I felt the hesitation and I instantly knew something wasn't right.

I looked down and power available graph said 56 percent. All of the temperature gauges are normal, it' was 65 degrees F outside. I pulled over and turned truck off for 30 seconds. Turned it back on and guage said 100 again. I put it in drive and a soon as I stepped on accelerator, it jumped back to 56 percent.

I really don't want to pull the negative battery cable and reset but I don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks.

I've had it happen after fast charging. I've heard it can happen as a glitch in a variety of scenarios. Most of the time it will correct itself after a few drives.

I thought I had read this can happen after a recent OTA update...did you by chance just have one?

Yes. I received the frunk update about a week ago.

I hope that's all that it is.

Thanks for all these replies. 🥰

Yeah 56% is the tell tale sign that your front motor is offline temporarily due to some kind of software glitch post OTA update. Luckily for most of us it simply resolves itself after a few truck restarts and/or some light driving around.

Man, I'm really hoping this is the case!

I drove to work (4.5 miles) without issue. I even floored it once just to see if she could handle it. She ran like her old self again!

I hope it was just a glitch that fixed itself.

Likely a failed battery module (or two). You'll need to take it in for service. Should be under warranty. Had the same thing happen and they replaced two HV battery modules.

Only likely if the truck cannot be charged. If it's charging just fine, more likely a SW glitch.

Same thing happened to me after an OTA update (BC 1.4) except I was stuck at 51%. I ran the battery down a little and took it home and plugged it in. After it fully charged (90%), available power was back at 100%.

I had the same thing after it was in for the 10,000 mile service. 56%, and it wouldn't charge at home. Took it back to the dealer (Autonation Amherst) and it had a bad battery module. It took less than a week to get taken care of. That was back in Spring of 2023 I think.

Wow that's unfortunate. I'm glad they were able to fix it.

My Lightning has been running very smoothly since it straightened up later that day.

Actually, it was your 20Kmile service, January, 2024, if your post was correct then!

Nice that you only lost your truck for a week.
