Just in case anyone with 18” wheels (XLT or PRO standard wheels) wants a slightly bigger AT tire with a higher sidewall. My preference is a smaller wheel and larger sidewall; I just personally find it to be a bit weird that so many OEMs are putting 21/22” wheels with narrow sidewalls on trucks as standard equipment. People must like that look and less compliance, I have no idea.🤷‍♂️

I agree 100%. I also prefer less wheel and more tire. The benefits of more tire are numerous. I wish mine came with the 18s.

Your truck looks great!

If you’re driving is primarily on asphalt, then the 20” wheels still have a TON of sidewall. Here’s what low profile truly looks like….

True- the stock Lightning 275/60R20 tires are not “low profile” but they are still narrower than tire/wheel combinations that truck manufacturers have used in the past. For example, the standard tire on a Rivian R1T is a 275/50R22, which is relatively narrow for a traditional truck tire (and I believe it’s either standard on the Platinum trim or an optional size???). It’s certainly not a tricked-out low rider but it does lead to a rougher ride and (at least to me) looks kind of funny. But maybe I am just getting old, haha. When the ratio between wheel and tire gets that narrow, all I see is the rim, and the rubber looks like an afterthought. I expect to see that on an M3 or 911 Turbo. Just not sure about why it makes any sense on a truck, from a usability standpoint.

To be fair the Rivian is more of a lifestyle truck, much like a G63 AMG. Ironically both Rivian and Mercedes have AT wheel and tire options for those that want them.

BTW I do know a thing or two about Turbo S and M car wheel and tire choices. They’re not too bad. It’s the lower trims that usually go too far with the low profile tires.

Nice garage! I’m not dissing lower-profile street tires, I just think that they’re a strange choice for a truck. If I didn’t say it earlier, “to each their own.” 😎

Looks good. Any issue with the tires rubbing?

compared to stock, maybe just a little bit louder? I had the Michelin stock tires and they honestly don’t sound much different. But yeah, probably louder due to the deeper tread and more aggressive sidewalls. I don’t drive much with my windows open so I can’t hear a thing from inside the truck. The other Cooper Discoverer AT3s that I have run were pretty quiet, though, for an AT tire.
