Does anyone else have the issue when using Android Auto when you say Hey Google and try to ask for directions or anything else, and it comes back and says "Oops, something went wrong with the connection, try again". This drives me crazy.

I have an issue with my phone where I can't use AA wireless because the WiFi connection to the truck overrides the cellular data connection and the phone can't connect to google so you'll get the "ooops" message.

Try a wired connection with WiFi on your phone turned off.

Even when I do connect via wire, the phone will try and use the WiFi that's now attached to the truck, hence wifi has to be off.

Happens occasionally with my Samsung phone. Just be happy you have Android Auto. When using my Iphone 16 with wireless carplay, it's a nightmare. Glitchy, slow, and drops connection frequently. That's carplay for you. AA is just way better. I have both, and I never use carplay it's garbage.

For me it happens when my phone has weak or no signal. I live in a pretty rural place and spots along my road are dead zones, along with at my house it routinely does this to me in those areas.

Yes, I get the oops message randomly, maybe 20% of my "hey Google" requests. Usually an immediate repeat of "hey Google" works.

@Heliian , that sounds like weird behavior. Have you tried the "keep cellular data active while connected to wifi" toggle? It's in Android developer settings IIRC. Any modern android phone should connect to wireless AA seamlessly after the first connection by USB.

I have to say, I have an iPhone 16 and prior a model 12 and have never seen an issue with connectivity in the 2.9 yrs I’ve owned my 2022 Lariat.

The recording of your voice isn't analyzed on your phone or the truck, It's done in the cloud by Google servers that have a greater capacity to determine what you're saying and what to do or respond to your command with. When you have no signal or a weak or slow data connection (cellular or Wi-Fi), it will fail to upload your voice recording to the cloud and after a timeout or an immediate error response, will notify you with the Oops message that it cannot proceed.

Why do you have a weak or no data signal? Any number of things could cause it. No cell signal. You're using Wi-Fi and have moved too far away from it and haven't switched to cellular yet. You're using your trucks cellular connection via Wi-Fi and it has a poor signal. The Bluetooth connection between your truck and phone is in an error state and the microphone in your truck that's listening to your voice and sending it through the truck's computer to your phone is failing to get your recording there reliably and that times out. Every action and interaction has a time limit so it can notify you that something went wrong so that you don't sit there indefinitely when something's not working.

Glad you haven't had the same experience I've had. Wired the iphones are good. Wireless they are buggy. Not just in the lightning, but in all of my cars, rental cars, etc. Which has led me to the conclusion that AA seems to function better, so I just use that. Just my experience.

LOL, ya I tried it all. It's no big deal though, I just plug in. I've had this phone for more than 6 years. However the phone was/is ahead of its time in features and the way the connectivity works is different than most everything out there now. Huawei P30 pro.
