My wife went to the store and did some shopping for groceries. When she got back into the truck, she got a lot of error messages, but she can't tell me much other than parking sensor failure, but there were more. It would not start. However, after a bit the truck did start and she left for home. The truck went into limp mode, and she parked into a school parking lot. She stopped the truck and then called me. When we got off the phone, the truck started up fine and was running like normal. I suspect very much there is an issue, without looking at any codes as the truck is not home yet, has any one encountered something like this? I will update with codes when I get the truck.

These trucks have been known to exhibit this type of behavior during or immediately after an update.

Any chance the truck was updating while she was shopping?

My wife did note notice any indication of an update. I checked the truck for updates and it said No Update Available. I have never received any updates since I bought this truck last July. I am wondering if it is my 12 Volt Battery. I put my charger on and it indicates the battery may be slightly charged a little over than 50%. I am currently charging the battery now.

My son was also in the truck when the truck had the issue and he said the initial symptoms were: When they initially turned on the truck the first time, the battery percentage showed 0%, but it showed 232 miles till empty. It also showed all of the warnings like sensor faults with saying to put it into park to turn on, even though it was in park. All the displays in the truck went black and went to limp mode. When the screens turned back on, the radio screen was pretty grey and not full color. At this point, she stop at the school and turned the truck off. She then turned the truck on and everything was normal.

When my wife came home, I put my OBDII scanner and no codes were returned.

I am wondering if my 12V battery is dying. I still have a couple thousand miles before my original warranty expires. Thinking I should have them do a battery load test.

Definitely have a Ford dealer load test the 12v battery. Also have them scan the truck with their Ford FDRS software for anything. Might be a bad high voltage battery module...

Also be sure to the the fix for most issues, disconnect the 12v battery for 20 minutes or so. I have a calendar invite to do this quarterly.

I have another thread about this that I started last week but i'll report here that literally a week ago at this time I had the same warning. I pulled over in a convenient spot and shut down. Followed the app instructions for road side assistance and they sent a flat bed and towed to dealer. Got the truck back yesterday - they were getting mixed signals and also noticed the 12v battery was low. So - they charged that for half a day, and once it reached spec of output the other warnings cleared up. Drove it home yesterday no issues.

I'll keep an eye on that moving forward. I have a standard schumacher battery charger for my 4runners and next time i'll probably try that first.

I did charge my battery last night. I took the truck out this morning to take my son to school and no issues. I think I may have been presented some early symptoms prior to yesterday's issue. Occasionally, my settings would be weirded out. The setting would be different from what I previously set. Also, my key fob was weird. For the last two weeks or so, my key fob had to be on the dash in order for the truck to recognize it. I thought perhaps the fob battery was very low so I replaced the fob battery, but I still had the issue of having to put the fob on the dash. This morning (and after charging last night the 12v battery), the truck saw my fob like 12 feet from the truck. I'm really thinking and hoping it is my 12 V battery.

Did the truck sit undriven for a while prior to this happening? That might also help implicate the 12v going bad. It certainly sound to me like a bad 12v. If you don't already have one, I'd recommend getting a jump starter to have in the truck incase it completely dies.

I drive my truck a lot every day. I just ordered overnight a jump starter. It will be good to have.

The 12v battery is probably the issue, with multiple error messages that has been the scenario.

After you get a new one, keep it on a battery maintainer with an AGM mode and i should last longer.
