2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum
I recently purchased a very lightly used, 750 miles, '22 Lightning Platinum. I activated BlueCruise and many of the other connected services via the FordPass app. Within the vehicle its connected to my home Wifi and the system update tab says up to date. While within the FordPass App it say it has a update pending from 02/16/23 that can be applied in-vehicle but it does not present the option within the vehicle. I've tried deleting and re-installing FordPass on my phone, and going through the web browser version of the site to no avail.

When I purchased the vehicle it hadn't been reset as evidenced by two other phones in the list which I've since deleted. I am wondering if a sync reset is necessary or something else is the hang-up. The one concern I have is I signed up for the free 250 kwh promotion which I've used once now and I wouldn't want to eliminate that if a hard reset in some way voids the promotion.

Thanks,
Confused

FordPass has nothing to do with updates. All your doing is creating more work for yourself by having to set it up every time you do it.

Doing a hard reset will not affect your free Kwh.

You might try pulling your negative lead on your 12v battery or the modem fuse to reboot the modem. But there are really only a few ways to get updates.

1. Wait. Sometimes they take time.

2. See if your dealer will update some of your modules. They typically don't do that because they won't get reimbursed from Ford for their time unless they are trying to fix something specific. Getting the Gateway Module and possibly the APIM updated might trigger everything else.

3. Buy the stuff to do the updates yourself. The power supply and Mongoose will run about $600 and then you will need an FDRS license.

I had the same issue, local dealer won't service it told me to just wait. It's been a couple thousand miles and 2 months and I'm still stuck - not even a button to select automatic or manual updates.

I tried a soft reset, hard reset, full reset, unplugged the battery, pulled the fuse...nada. Let me know if you find something that works, but @Pioneer74's #3 suggestion is my next route.

@Labs4Lightning had to do his updates himself. Depending on his plans going forward, maybe you guys could rent his hardware from him to get unstuck.

You can call the Ford OTS team directly at (833) 926-3233. They can see your specific vehicle on their end and maybe help

I called and got some info:

-updates are sent in batches, like 100 a day.
- don’t set automatic updates to 12:00am, any other time is ok. I’ll probably set it for like… 1:23am just to avoid conflicts.
- last update (3.5.3) was pushed to my truck in feb. Rep said 2 months without another update isn’t bad, 4-5 months is more concerning

I called the OTS line and they were somewhat helpful. They shared my vehicle had been updated March 2nd, but couldn't really talk to Power-Up versions as updates are VIN released and patience is important. They did say visiting a dealer could get updates applied if the dealer is open to doing it but many say no because of the VIN related role out of updates and a fear they would screw something up.

When I am back in town following travel i am on I'll be calling the dealer to see if its possible to get updates applied.

If you want OTAs to happen you need to set your update schedule to check about 15 minutes into a normal daily commute so that your 12V battery is back up above 80% state of charge. This will also probably mean you're driving in an area with at least 3 bars of AT&T at that time which is also necessary to get OTAs through the vehicle’s TCU modem.

This nonsense of leaving the update schedule set to 1:00 AM when your 12V battery is invariably below 80% by that time means the logic will never kick off the update process.

So set it to check 15 minutes after you start your morning commute (or evening commute back home) to ensure your battery is back up and you will have better success.

So what's the possibility that the dealer left this truck in "Fleet" mode like the guy in the other thread? That would prevent any OTA updates from what the other poster said. Apparently one clue is the lack of the ability to schedule updates (option completely missing) in Sync.

I have mine set to update after 1:00 AM and have gotten an update overnight. The setting is only for updates that require the vehicle to be disabled for a short period. You can set it to basically anytime, but you might come out of the grocery store with ice cream on a hot day and find that you need to wait 20 minutes for an update to complete.
Updates that do not require an interruption of vehicle function can install anytime, regardless of the schedule.
If your 12V battery falls below 80% every night, you may have other issues.

Your battery falls to below 80% every night...full stop. Every Mach-E and every Lightning. Every night.

Check it with your powersupply any morning. You'll be below 80% guaranteed.

With battery being a big part of this, what’s the value in putting a trickle charger on it at the end of the day? Will that remove it from the potential problem chain?

This solved mine, it was a quick turnaround. Seems to be a demo/mannequin thing where they're "Fleet"

Well the trickle charger would solve the overnight discharge problem...but it seems overkill if the only problem you're trying to solve is getting OTAs to download overnight. Just set it to check during a daily drive time and then if you're offered an "inhibit" update that might keep you from using the vehicle just opt to install it later.
