Definitely. I guess it depends how a guy defines "serious." Towing a large, heavy trailer that catches the wind like a sail over a long distance would be thought of as pretty serious by many people, even if it's only done occasionally. Regardless, people who do that do make up a decent chunk of the HD market. You basically confirmed the "occasional" towing market and not serious towing. That said, talk is cheap. Lets see them put their money where their mouth is. I could see a market for people like myself that have an EV and also an ice truck and are towing < 10k lbs but I don't have much faith in Ram after dealing with this etorque garbage.
For those who do that sort of stuff every day, there's really no incentive--it's never really daily driven like a car, you won't save much on fuel if long-haul towing every day, etc.
I also agree with your skepticism of Ram. While the signs with the new leadership may be good, I sure as heck won't be an "early adopter" of one of these. I'll sit back and see how they actually do for a year or so, see what Ford is planning, etc, before I'd jump in.
To add.... The delay caused by focusing on giving everybody their Hemi first has hopefully been a blessing in disguise. The Engineers have had an extra year to drive these things around in the real world and maybe have caught some of the issues one may expect from the first year of production. But I'll still wait....
