So how far off is the "computer range estimate" If I have a 100 miles of range left according to the computer should a 80 mile trip be safe ? I will refrain from mashing the go switch. and its almost all all freeway with 70mph speed.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. More information is needed.

If your 80 mile trip is going up 3000ft in elevation in 35°F weather, you probably won't make it. If you are going an average of 70mph in 70°F weather on relatively flat land...you should have no problem.

I like to keep the calm screen up so I can watch my actual battery percentage vs the Guess-o-meter.

In addition to what Benny said, prevailing winds make a big difference. A 10 MPH headwind is the same as driving 80 instead of 70 range-wise.

Use this to equation to figure out your range.

Battery percentage * battery capacity * current Mi/kWh

Example. I have an extended range battery. I'm currently getting 2 mi/kWh. I have 30% left.

.30 * 131 * 2 = 78.6 miles of range.

I’m leaving for a trip on Thursday, curious to see my range on the GoM at 100% charge prior to departure. Never seen it.
