I had my truck charging on a level 2 charger for about 4 hours until I got a notification from the FordPass app about a "Charging Error". I go out into my garage and the charging had indeed stopped. There were no red lights (or any color).
I unplugged the charger from the truck and reconnected, it resumed charging. Minutes later, I get the same notification.
I looked at the FordPass app and Chargepoint app and both show that charging is still happening. I went back into the garage and could see it still charging too. I plugged in the OBD II that I have and turned on accessory mode.
The truck asked for my passkey, which it never has before. I also had my phone in the center console (I have PAAK setup). Before I could dig up the passkey, the truck turned off. I'm hoping this is a security measure?
I turned accessory mode back on and it started normally this time and stayed on for 10-15 minutes while I checked the Car Scanner app and until I turned it off. I didn't see any fault codes in the app or anything else that looked suspicious.
Should I be worried?
In later 2024 I had some of the high voltage battery modules replaced (failure), as well as the high voltage junction box and the 12V battery . It's been problem-free since.
I've had the "Charging Error" once or twice sporadically, but never multiple times within an hour.
