This is a hypothetical explanation:
Once an issue like this has been identified the team goes back and figure out the escape point as the nut drivers are all computer controlled for torque. So they can see that maybe one tool wasn't calibrated correctly or didn't do the full run or something and they can then cross-reference part serial numbers and from there get VIN.

August 2nd is a weird day, that includes half the first week after the plant came back online after retooling. Maybe that's why my truck was held back for months, they were investigating whatever caused this.

No need to worry. The 215 potentially affected will be notified soon. One 1 vehicle has been identified with this problem so far.

Strange that the same organization responsible for identifying affected vehicles and making a list of the VINs, and then notifying those owners...then has a dealer that says "nevermind, just kidding".

Did the dealer check the VIN list even though you were notified?

Just got the notification for this one. Gotta love #6 recall/CSPs in less than 12 months. Hopefully Ford is close to getting the kinks worked out lol
