I tried my best to get a photo of the issue but camera would not focus on a clean window. I was cleaning my truck today and noticed scratches on my drivers side window that are clearly from window going up and down. One deep enough to catch a fingernail. My truck is a 2023 that I bought new about a year ago. I keep my truck extremely clean (minimum 2 Carwash a week) so it’s not that I kept the window seals full of junk. I’m not sure exactly when this showed up but it is concerning and I’m hoping it isn’t going to get worse. I was wondering if this is something ford will cover under warranty or they will tell me to pound sand? I feel this should not be happening in a new truck that is not being abused. Opinions? Should I take to dealer?

How tinted are your front windows?
Is the scratch in the coating?

IMHO, unless you can prove that a mechanical component inside the regulator is causing the damage I don't think they are going to cover you. Incidental rock & sand grit caught in the felt/rubber wiper is a user maintenance issue.

If it's caused by debris at all they likely won't cover it. But you won't really know until the door is opened up. Scratching the glass itself is very odd. Something very hard would have to get past the external wiper and get lodged inside the mechanism. You may make an argument that the external wiper should have prevented anything significant to get past it or lodged in it.

Many moons ago I had a Saturn that its internal window structure would scratch window tint. It was a known problem. They replaced whatever the internal part was and retinted my window under warranty. But it wasn't a one-off, Saturn had issued a TSB for it.

Something to be aware of: my front door windows are double-paned. In other words, there are two separate glass pieces, bonded together.

I understand this is for some sound-proofing of the cabin while driving. The 2021 versions of the Mach E Mustang also had this feature, abandoned in 2022 and later models.

An easy way to tell is to open the front window halfway and run Your fingers over its top edge... it'll immediately be clear if the window glass is two-layer or one-layer (two scallops or one scallop across the edge).

I write this information for those (maybe the OP here?) who choose to replace a broken / damaged front door window glass with an aftermarket-sourced window glass, like SafeLite, which may or may not be double-paned like my OEM glass is.

NOTE: on my 2023 XLT truck, this is true only for the front door glass. Not sure about other truck trims.
