Just as a follow-up, the six nails were in three tires. Four of the nails actually penetrated the tread and I had to plug the holes. One tire had three holes I had to plug.

Tire with the three plugs is actually leaking worse than it was with the nails in it. I have been having to air up the tire morning and evening. I will pull the tire again this weekend and find leak to re-plug it.
Iā€™d never consider plugs a permanent fix. Itā€™s like $20 per to get it fixed right.

it seems like all they really want to do is sell you a new tire..
A lot of this is due to the DOT now prohibiting repairs in or close to the sidewall. Patching a hole bigger than 1/4ā€ diameter is also not allowed in passenger car tires.

Nonono BEVs are bad because of child labor and human rights violations in rare metal mines.
BEVs are bad because they're heavy.
BEVs are bad because they're not Hydrogen fuel cell.

Child labor happens in USA farms (labor laws don't protect in the Ag sector).
What about all the multi-ton semi's?
Hydrogen is most cheaply and chiefly made from fossil fuels.
The next Hydrogen vehicle will be lit

Did not realize the nails were in 3 tires separated the way you described. Thanks for updating everyone with your situation.

We definitely want to make sure you are safe on the road and as @RickLightning mentioned all of our stores would be happy to inspect your tires to make sure they can be safely repaired so you can get back on the road safe and sound.

If there is anything we can do to help please let us know and stay safe out there!

@Discount Tire patches tires for free.
Was about to say the same thing. I've had half a dozen tires repaired at Discount and I'm always stunned that it's free. One occasion it was too close to the side wall and I had to replace. Without my asking, they gave me a discount based on the tread remaining on the tire (it was relatively new). I won't take my cars anywhere else for tires.

We appreciate the long time support, Brandon!

For those not aware, we do provide free prorated road hazard protection with the purchase of new tires (y)

More mystery! I pulled the tire that still had a slow leak, the one that already had three plugs, and found another pin hole in the tire. The hole didnā€™t have a nail in it so Iā€™m not surprised that I missed it the first time I inspected the tire but I am surprised the leak got so much worse after I plugged all the other holes.

Anyway, I think I will look into getting Discount Tires or some other tire shop fix my flats from now on. I donā€™t remember plugs being so hard to stick in tires. Either Iā€™m getting old or those Hancock tires Ford puts on the truck are really tough.

Since those tires seem to be nail magnets, I think the former is probably the case. I have Kevlar tires on my bicycle because I got sick on getting flat tires all the time. If I keep having to pick nails out of my Lightning tires Iā€™m going to take a serious look at puncture resistance ratings when I have to replace the tires.

Anybody have recommendations on puncture resistant tires for the Lightning?

I called Discount Tire this morning and told them I had some plugs in my tires and I wanted them to patch the plugs. I was told that since I already had plugs in the tires I would have to replace the tires. So, when you read online or hear in a video that plugs are only a temporary fix until you can get to a tire shop, don't believe it; it's just a ploy to get you to the tire shops so you can be talked into replacing perfectly good tires.

That's alright, my plugs are holding up just fine and I really wasn't looking forward to sitting in a tire shop waiting room for three hours to get a tire patched. I'm not singling out Discount Tires, all the tire shops appear have the same issues long wait times, poor reservation procedures and inconsistent service. I rate going to a tire shop right up there with going to the doctor or the dentist, it has to be done but it's going to be painful.

I agree with Tony although I do believe this was intentional. If the guy really wanted to f up your day, nails on the inside sidewall of each tire and the spare would be the maximum amount of damage.
We just have to face it, some people have no redeeming qualities and should be treated as such.
I wonder if the first automobiles had a problem with buggy whip makers and horse farriers.
