To anyone reading this and lvl 3 charging has been disabled; the manual release works to fixing this issue. The PDF link that Shmoe provided is what fixed this!

That’s what I was afraid what I was going to be told when I take my truck in tomorrow for the 25C69 update.

Also wonder what the cause is, improperly seated charging cable, improper disconnect sequence maybe? Would be great to know.

Well this is good news. I’ll be saving this helpful tip if I ever find I can’t DC charge.

Me. Before this came to light. Also spent 6 hours at a level 2 needlessly.

Thank you for posting this solution! I spent the last two months in and out of the shop, replacing the charge port lock actuator, the wiring to the battery to no avail. Turns out the release tab in my truck had fallen off the clip and was stuck in an extended position below the coolant reservoir! I was able to fix the issue on my own after seeing this post.

Does anyone have a theory on why the manual recommends disconnecting the low voltage connector before pulling the DCFC manual release tab?

I had to use the DCFC manual release tab yesterday for the first time when charging at a Tesla supercharger with my Ford adapter.

I haven’t tested DCFC since I was able to release the cable from the port, but I may test locally, now that I’m home from my roadtrip.

This link is a video to @WeberAuto and although this is done on a mach-E, the concept and components are the same. The technician begins to explain your question at the 10 minute mark. I won’t be able to do it justice for as well as he does. Save this channel as well because I have learned very useful things from him.
