That would’ve been a much better design choice in my opinion too. At least would be harder to accidentally spill a cup of coffee down it and likely ruin it. I wonder how much that folddown feature cost and curious if there’s anybody here that actually finds it useful

I do find it useful!
It is just like almost every other F150.
I have stated in the FDRS update thread, I like that I can fold my gearshift down flip open my console/armrest in the center and use my laptop while I am doing my updates with an old school mouse!

I've driven a little over 12k miles on my 2024 Lightning Lariat since April.
Unsolicited (and possibly unwelcome) suggestions:
Full vertical power back window.
Full vertical power back window screen (for car camping).
Bivouac or Bivy mode (for car camping) which allows climate to stay on and disables approach lighting.
On the app, only display the 'locked' icon or the 'unlocked' icon for clarity.
Increase 'shade' area on windshield area behind and above the rear view mirror to eliminate sun glare as well as extending the 'shade' area left and right in line with visors.
Curve or cut angle the very bottom of side view mirrors so that curbs & parking lines area easier to see while reversing.
'Notch' center back seat so that the headrest can be flush with the top edge of seats while not being used (better rear visibility).
Some functional hooks, attachment points, pockets, lighting, etc on bottom of rear seats (again, for car camping).
Eliminate some buttons by relocating some functionality to the screen/app.
More aerodynamic front end, mirrors, door handles.

A way to disable the drivers door has to be closed, very an when jogging the truck to get trailer ball lined up

FCA started that crap on vehicles several years ago and unfortunately Ford copied it. What I do is use a simple seat belt extender. It clips right in, totally disabled the stupid chime and locking the truck in park annoyance, and I don't even realize it's there anymore.
