Fun fact - this isn't new and it isn't EV-specific. If you don't drive a lot, you won't keep the 12v charged up. Either a) drive more, or b) get a Battery Tender. I got this message on my 2013 a year after getting it, and the service manager told me exactly that. I put it on a Battery Tender, and the message never appeared again UNTIL the battery failed after 6 years. I had both the Lightning and the Mach-E batteries tested by the dealer (free) right before the 3 year warranty ended and the Lightning failed, so I got a new one free.
If you do a replacement, or have one done, check the age in Car Scanner. My dealership did NOT reset the BMS, so I did.
