Since the ER Lightning has a GVWR of 8550 pounds, it isn’t subject to the Canadian federal Luxury Tax for vehicles over $100,000, which applies to light duty vehicles with GVWR of 8500 pounds (3856 kg) or less.

I’ve been having this argument so many times, I’m hoping I can just link people to this thread to save time. ?

Feel free to add any footnotes as needed.

I can confirm that my dealer did not collect the luxury tax for my 2022 Lariat 511A earlier this week when I took delivery in BC.

This just changed with the substition to All Terain tires, it pushes the GVWR down.

Uh oh, I've got another ER on order, I'm not keen on paying the luxury tax plus the new price on that one. The dealer hasn't mentioned the AT tire substitution though, so maybe they'll have it figured out by the time my build date rolls around.

Once the car arrive, you can check the door sticker to see the GVWR number
If its over 8500-ish number, then you can argue with the dealer not paying luxury tax

rumour says ford is putting AT tires for free, that would be an issue for Canadians...
