The system might have run for 10-20 minutes in the middle of the night to slightly bump the battery temperature, just enough to get you back to 100% energy available to the motors.
I wish there was a way to get the official response from ford. I don’t track all of my charging sessions, but one time I left it plugged in overnight to 80% charge (started it around 60% because I had. Longer drive the next day). Then I jumped in next morning and launched the car scanner app, and battery was at 27 degrees Fahrenheit.

the only way I know that it wlll 100% warm up the battery is by preconditioning it using the client button on the app. Plugging it in and leaving after fully charging it doesn’t make a difference after hitting your fully charged status. It will keep the battery warm when charging it obviously

If it took all night to get from 60 to 80 percent, I assume it was L1 charging. If I remember right, the battery is not heated when on L1 charging. The heating would take far more power than L1 charging can deliver.

Nope…all level 2 charging at home.
It took roughly 2 hours to charge to get to my 80%. Battery temp was a good 52 degrees when charging From 8pm to roughly 10pm. So it sat overnight from 10pm to about 7 am next morning completely plugged in. Battery temp did drop that time to 27 degrees. I was hoping that it would have kept it a little warmer after it finished charging but it didn’t.

just having it plugged in and not charging doesn’t keep the battery warm…like I hoped it would, but at least I know only way to warm it up is by hitting that climate button or setting my departure time.

There is certainly a threshold where it will warm the battery. @TaxmanHog has this documented in another thread. The lower limit is still a mystery. I even saw it happen during the year I used the Mobile Cord plugged into 120V but obviously it wasn't getting anywhere.

Got it. It must be cold where you are. It was cold by our standards overnight - last night it got down to 48.2 at my house and tomorrow night it's supposed to get down to 39. I need to leave early Friday morning so setting a departure time...

Yup…departure time and climate buttons are the only thing I can see that triggers preconditioning.

having it plugged in (and not charging) in doesn’t precondition the battery…but I can work around it. The thought was that leaving it plugged in L2 charging) keeps it warm during a recent snowstorm.

but all good and love the tech once you figure out how it works.

PASSIVE conditioning occurs at unpredictable and random times, at temps below freezing.

How can I plug in to my ford charge station pro at night by NOT charge the truck? It's so cold, I want to plug in to help maintain the battery but I don't want to charge until the next morning. When I tap STOP CHARGING, it stops, but the charger starts back up an hour or so later. Is there a way to plug in and just tap charge in the app when I want it to charge?

Before plugging in, edit your SYNC HOME charging scheme to a SOC goal that's less then the HVB current SOC.

Then the EVSE will only provide current for temperature maintenance, you'll need to manually resume charging later to initiate a charging session of the HVB when you're ready to bump the SOC

This isn't something you can schedule in the Ford Pass app on when to start charging?

The timing can be present but with the lowered SOC it won't activate battery charging, you need to wake up and trigger it manually, or re-adjust the SOC goal back to your normal value.

You can't have more than one SOC goal per location record.
