In July just after the price drop I started looking at the Ford website build tool at an XLT ER with all the tow packages. The available inventory showed a similar Lariat ER for $4800 more on a dealer lot about 1 hour away. It was an abandoned customer Special Order. I called and went the next day to look at it. When I got there, they said looking at the info, it was under the rear light bar recall since it was built Mar 27 so couldn’t complete the sale and that the recall gave a resolution estimate of early Q4. I figured one on hand was better odds than a new build estimated to deliver in October. So I put a $500 deposit and signed a paper sales form since it was blocked for sale in the computer. They had to call Ford to put it in my name. I didn’t expect to hear anything until October.
Fast forward to this week. My salesman called Tuesday afternoon and said they got the part and would get it fixed on Wednesday. He said it usually takes 24 hours for the system to release the recall hold after fixing. He called this morning and said hold was released. So went up and completed the sale this afternoon and got to drive it home tonight.
Saw on another forum someone said their dealer called them today and said Ford was sending the parts to dealers this week so his should be fixed so he can take delivery soon. So hopefully everyone waiting gets theirs fixed soon.
