Well, well, check these messages out that came thru Fordpass for me, I knew blue cruise was only for 3 months and expire, while I like the feature, I don't really travel much if any, and certainly not enough to subscribe to it unless I needed to make a road trip. Seems reasonable to me until I saw this other message, wtf? This is some kind of messed up if I'm reading it right.

What they are saying is that if you don't have updates enabled then you might lose features of bluecruise. You don't have to use it.

I hope you're right because I'll use it but only when needed, the way that last sentence reads to me is if you don't update regularly, meaning updating the subscription or just in general?, I have mine set to auto update and I check for any via FDRS once in a while to update manually.

Some grey area in interpretation I'd say.

There are folks who have automatic updates turned off on their trucks... some have gone as far as to disable to modem entirely... that's what Ford is talking about, not applying updates, some of which could affect BC. After your trial expires you'll still have ACC with lane centering available and if you decided to resubscribe in the future, you still be able to get BC.

I would consider that the right way to do it and makes the most sense, as far as those purposely disabling the modem. Tin foil in every crowd guess. lol

That message sounds like Ford is covering their asses in case something in the future prevents Bluecruise from working.

At some point AT&T will retire the cell service the truck requires. Might be 10 years, might be 50. But 4G, LTE, 5G, etc. towers will eventually go dark.

It sounds like Ford is leaving open the possibility that, for example, they discover a critical safety flaw with Bluecruise that requires an update to fix and in the interest of safety and liability they would deactivate it until the OTA update is installed. Other possibilities could be having to change the way it communicates with the mothership due to technology evolution, either some other update to the truck that changes the way it communicates or the servers on Ford's end.
