One thing that would really impress me that a US automaker was on the right track is if they had *both* a NACS and CCS port, along with very clear instructions on how to charge. Walk up to a Lightning for the first time with a charge cord and figure out where to put it. We have a door on each side of the truck, but only one works.

My EV6 is even worse, the charge door is cleverly hidden in the body work and there is a secret place that you have to push it to get satisfaction. Kia actually puts a sticker there, which the new car detailers helpfully remove....

The cost and complexity of dual ports makes it unlikely any non-luxury vehicle would get the dual-port treatment.

A sticker with instructions for the new buyer isn't a bad idea. Then again, there's always RTFM.

The faster we all move to NACS, the faster people will move to EV's. It's just one more complication that will help remove the barrier to entry.
Obviously we are all fine with CCS and an adapter, but people like my mom or wife don't want to deal with that. They want to just pull up to a place that says 'charge here' and plug and play (even if it' means using a credit card).

Bla bla bla...... This is nothing more than PR trying to distract from high gas prices and the fact the Chinese auto show just demonstrated that they are hopelessly behind. Whatever that may come out of their "shunk works" is all but certain to be inferior to what is already available outside of the US. BYD is putting their 6 minute charge time batteries in ALL their models by the end of the year. All means all, budget to luxury, all the same ultra fast charging. Also reports BYD is planning on manufacturing in Canada. Assuming that happens, the tariff wall will crumble.

This is nothing more than trying to keep the shell game going just a little bit longer.

The account/app based charging SUCKS. It feels like less freedom, not more. The exception to this is being able to charge at home especially with self generated electrons.

It’s bad enough that cash will never be used at DCFCs (I know lots of people who still fill their cars and pay with cash) but not being able to charge without being in a digital ecosystem blows. A CC reader on a charger should have been the norm from the start. /rant

The newer Leaf has a NACS & a J1772 port.

Lightning canceled. EV chief leaves. EV division restructured. The skunkworks folks survived.
