I'm sure there will someone that flips their lightning for profit as soon as the first deliveries roll in. They will make the news and be villain's. But they own it. .they can do what they want. I, personally am keeping mine. But my problem with Ford's no resale for a year is this. What if something happens like I lose my job and suddenly can't afford my payments? I don't want a car loan default and repo on my record. I'd be forced to sell. But if the stupid provision says i can't, am i supposed to default on my mortgage and lose my house and live in the truck because ford says so? I don't think so. For sale sign will be on the truck.

I feel like Ford would be using the no sale clause to go after a larger entity than an individual customer who had their financial situation charge. I'm thinking a dealer (Ford brand or otherwise) that has ordered multiple vehicles and intends to register them then sell them to the dealership so that they can then sell them as used. There's a Honda dealer near me that has had 4 different Bronco sitting out front. I don't know how they got them but I would not be surprised if they had been ordered by the dealer or the dealer had multiple employees order them just so they could resell them used and at a markup

Ford does not have a resell policy folks. We are NOT buying the truck directly from Ford like the Ford GT.

Individual dealers MUST include this in the sales paperwork and Ford said they would support it. If your dealer doesn't give a shit, and most will not, you can sell it whenever and for whatever you want.

If interest is crazy and my order for the r1t is up... I may give it a thought if I want something a little smaller or with more bells and whistles... Assuming it's just a small price upgrade... I'll have an XLT standard... Probably not going to be sold to cover the full cost of a 67k r1t.

If I don’t love the truck you best beleive it will be relisted for +$25k. I ended with the XLT SR.

More of a Tesla fan myself. I am only buying this as a holdover while I wait for the cybertruck. I expect it to hold its value incredibly well for the next 2-3 years. It is simply a value play.

So many trim packages and options and ways for ford to nickle and dime you to death. It’s disgusting.

With Tesla, you get it all. Then you select either 1 motor and small battery. Or two motor and big battery. That’s it. No manual crank windows options, no cloth seat bullshit, No push button start nonsense. No forcing you into package XYZ to add option 123. Ford needs to get with the times.

I agree! I like how Tesla just makes you choose between three options with Model 3 and Y, standard, long range and performance. I’m selling Model Y LR when my Lariat ER says it’s shipping. Holding onto Lariat to see what other options come out in the next couple years and will sell it then if I decide to jump ship.

I am firmly in the other camp. More options is a great thing! You can pay for what you want and not for what you don't.

If the Lightning followed the Tesla model, you would only get to chooses between a standard range and ER Platinum.

Where I come from, sales tax would make it difficult to get much out of flipping it. The federal tax credit will barely cover the sales tax bill I'm going to have when I buy this thing. Although, I may be able to write off my sales tax when I itemize next year. So, I guess I have that going for me.

Thats not true at all, since Ford bundles 10+ options into a trim level. If you want only 1 option, you are stuck. You cannot piecemeal. All or nothing!

Sales tax in MA is 6.25%, one of the lower rates in the country. Where I moved from in AZ it was 9.1%. I ran the numbers on buying and registering my new Bronco in AZ vs MA, I have to get out to year 10 before it's cheaper in AZ. I was shocked that Taxachusetts was cheaper.

Yes, options for the Lightning are limited, but they are still better than Tesla. Fully ala cart would be best (or at least as ala cart as they can without making pricing crazy) - completely agree.

I was responding to @Oneand0 who said that they liked Tesla's system of barely any trims and options better.

All this talk about selling, are people willing to buy at a markup and no tax incentive?

I'm wave 1 F-150 Lariat+ and have an Launch Edition R1T scheduled for April/May. I kind of want to get both and try them for a month before selling one. I can do cash for one and finance the other.

My dealer seems (seemed?) to think any trim level could be $30k over MSRP. So, probably? I've seen $20k asks on MMEs and $45k on Raptors.

o.k., so I had a conversation with a dealer not in my local area the other day - he's the owner - and he was quite nice to have such a long and detailed discussion.
He was convinced that since I had already been 'confirmed' with my LIGHTNING PRO order from my local dealer, who then decided to add on a 10% ADM of $4,552.00, I would not be able to 'change' to another dealer. He could only suggest that I take it up with Ford, escalating the fact that my original confirmed order had NOTHING for an ADM, yet added the ADM when I recently changed the COLOR of choice for the truck, from Agate Black Metallic to Iced Blue Silver. He also mentioned, though, that while I could tick my dealer off in the meantime by going over their head to Ford, I would be better off PAYING the increased overall cost, since it still represented such a good 'value' for such technology.
Well, also, he then mentioned that if I took delivery of the truck, but wanted to then 'sell' it, HE would be happy, as a Ford DEALER, to purchase it from me, at a NICE profit, since he thinks that with even all that cost on his end, he would STILL be able to flip it for a nice profit for the dealership, too.

Interesting. I'll take all this into consideration as I wait for the 'Scheduled for Production' checkmark and email to arrive, hopefully by the end of March, as I was one of the first orders in the system, and order the PRO with Max Tow, Tow Tech, and Pro Onboard 9.6kw....

IF, and that's a big if, the other dealer is serious about a 'flip' of my truck, he'd have to give me a REALLY good profit margin, since then I'd be OUT of a new truck, but it might be worth it IF Ford decides to release an all EV version of the MAVERICK - which I would love in a Platinum or Lariat edition....
