The Parsons rate looks really good but the customer service issues are concerning.
Don’t worry, there’s no customer service to have issues with!

2.19% 60 day rate lock.

Don’t expect to hear back, you chase them not the other way around.

Just applied to open a parsons account. hoping it is approved soon so that I can apply for an auto loan and lock the rate!

Hedging my CAFCU application/rate
… worried that since it’s been so long the original 1.74% rate won’t be honored.

Did the same. My good rate expired at my CU unfortunately.

I just applied for parsons. I guess I will wait. I did the pre approval request for the auto loan. That is what I want for getting locked in right?

If you’re approved online, you’re approved and locked.

I found that out a week later when I finally got a hold of my loan officer and he was confused and annoyed as to why I was calling him - after I sent him emails and left voicemails.

The good news is he refreshed my lock date when we spoke which bought me an additional time. So if you don’t have your car coming soon, doesn’t hurt to wait a couple weeks and then call to refresh.

My LO says the same - that they will honor the promotion as long as we touch base weekly and keep them updated on progress.

I worry they will only honor the 0.5 rate discount and not the total 1.74%. A further hedge can’t hurt :)

I have a idea on how to pay for my Lightning when it is delivered next week. My down payment will be about $27,000 (which I have already in cash) but I think instead I will pay the dealer $12,000 in cash and put $15,000 on my Ford Visa card (I have that amount available unused on the card). My 2.89% financing is already in place.

Since my Visa closing date in the 4th of the month I will not be billed until next month and will not have to pay until October. Plus I will get a bunch of Points and also earn a $200 cash credit bonus from Ford Visa because I have spent the required amount this year. When I am billed I will pay the whole amount to Visa and therefore am getting a bunch of perks and free use of $15,000 for almost 2 months.

Most dealers have a cap under $15K that you can put on a credit card, I think the limit last time I tried was $7K. I’m not sure if that was a dealer restriction or law, but I was trying to do $20K for the points.

Congrats! Looks like the rates bumped up and don't see mention about EVs, but assuming that is still applicable. With an open membership path this CU still looks to be a good option.
Closing the loop on San Francisco Federal Credit Union - SF FCU. They no longer offer the 1% EV discount. I finally got in touch with a customer service rep that could confirm it; the last person I talked to seemed new and had to have a loan officer get back to me, which of course never happened.

I must have missed the memo or they changed the requirements, but I didn’t realize they are expecting a 20k down payment at Parsons. That’s what I was told anyway. Maybe YMMV.

That’s news to me. Was it 20k down or 20%? I’ve got a Pro and definitely didn’t put 20k down.

Sorry, long day - yes 20% down was their requirement.
