Hello all, just bought this truck 8 days ago and I’ve noticed that it leaks an absolute metric crapton of water when the AC is running. I understand most all vehicles have some condensation but this is more than I have ever seen in my life. Also, I have noticed some condensation around the vents as well. Anyone else had this issue? Should I take it to the dealership? Tyia for feedback.

Is the truck parked outside all the time exposed to rain?

Is there any dampness on the carpets?

Hopefully, you don't have any leaks, but a couple rare reports have been seen, if you do, then the extra moisture is being dehydrated from the cabin when you're running the ac.

Otherwise, if no internal dampness, then the AC is performing very well drying out the cabin air.

It's just condensation. The truck doesn't have water onboard and it can't just make water. So as long as it's not battery coolant (yellow), you're fine. Or as long as it's not leaking and letting rainwater in, you're fine. Your profile on the left side of the frame says you're in Jefferson City, MO. You guys, along with the rest of the south (or I should say southern half of the USA) right now, are having serious "heat bulb" conditions. As in 90+ degree heat with humidity at or close to 100%. I bet if you set a glass of ice tea next to your truck, it's going to produce a ton of condensation moisture too. I'm in Colorado and we've had the 2nd wettest May on record followed by the wettest June and now July is off to a soggy start. I've run my sprinklers twice this year. Normally, I'm soaking the crap out of everything just to keep my lawn from turning brown while the water company sends everyone nasty letters about only watering 3 days week and how to xeriscape for better results in our desert conditions. Heh. It's weirdly humid here...

The only additional moisture I’ve noticed as of yet is the condensation around the air vents. It’s garaged every day.

Yeah what you are saying makes complete sense. Thank you!

I went from a regular cab F250 to the crew cab Lightning and it produces a bunch more condensation. I think it cabin that is more than 2x the size plus the auto hvac all contribute to it.

It was humid enough that when I accidentally cycled A/C off for only a minute that when I turned it back on my system was blowing fog out of the vents. The A/C in the trucks seem to work very very well lol.

I’ll give you that. It is instantly cold. Definitely a benefit of an electric vehicle.

my wife's Kia Sorento 1/2 electric vehicle does this also, and no, there is no leaks anywhere, it's just the nature of the condensation surrounding that particular a/c system and the humidity...

Remember, you’re cooling the battery with the same system.
Wanted to mention this too. The condenser size on these EV's is larger than their ICE counterparts in many situations. And the ER battery has two heating/cooling loops.

actually, I believe only Lightnings with the MAX TOW package option has the double cooling loops... whether SR or ER battery packs - although I suspect most Lariat and certainly all Platinums have max tow included.

I've actually noticed less condensation puddling than I had with my Honda Pilot.
I do love the ice cold A/C. We'll have to see how that goes on our 800mi trip to FL
this month. I'll be balancing fuel efficiency and comfort.

Max Tow units have 2 AC compressors, i've yet to see a schematic of the plumbing circuits though

Yeah, it is the Max tow that adds the second compressor, not specifically the ER battery. I somehow keep forgetting that.
