New owner. Got it from ford dealership I assume they updated all the OTA but you know what they say about assume.

how do I check what software updates my truck has downloaded Va what’s available.

I don’t see % of battery in my screen so I assume I’m behind.

SR 2023.
All I really want is better charge times as this summer plan to be road tripping a bit and that 10% charge curve improvement seems niiiice

It should start getting OTA's at some point.

Are you the first new owner of this truck, was it old New Stock inventory?

While sitting at dealers, the trucks don't get updated routinely until first new owner takes possession, dealers are only obligated to close out CSP's & Recalls before delivery of new stock.

What Sync version is the truck on? In your touchscreen, go to settings, general and "about sync". It's a 5 digit number that starts with a 2.

The %battery should show up on the screen in front of the steering wheel, but that display can be modified to show various things.

Check the manual:
https://www.ford.com/support/owner-manuals-details/

And the rest of the knowledge base:
https://www.ford.com/support/owner-manuals/?gnav=header-support-knowYourVehicle

Sometimes the OTAs won't install if the 12v battery is low, which was addressed in a CSP (Customer dis-Satisfaction Program) last year.

You can sort of check the updates in FordPass and the Truck but the complete history is not saved just the most recent ones as I recall.

So I keep a list like this:

Software Update 6.14.0

12/14/2024

Your vehicle has been updated with following:

Enhancements to Digital Infotainment

We’ve listened to your feedback and we’re making changes to your SYNC system so that it’s simpler and easier to use on the go. Please continue to send your feedback and we will continue to work on improvements. Changes we’ve made in this update:

• Replaced the Display Brightness Slider with +/- buttons to make it easier to use on your drive.

• Combined the USB and Bluetooth Media sources into a single app for easy access.

• Added new Onboard Scales, and Smart Hitch apps for eligible vehicles.

• Moved the Sketch app into the “Entertainment” page so it’s easier to find.

• Updated the icons on the top bar to make them easier to see.

• Added a phone battery icon on phone app screens.

Public Charging (If Applicable)

• The Public Charging application, previously known as Charge Assist, can be located in your application drawer, where other apps live.

• You can now start and pay for charging on the BlueOval™ Charge Network without requiring a smartphone. Filter by charge speed and network while staying informed about real-time information about new chargers, such as availability and those under repair.

• A new map view has been added, allowing you to visibly search for nearby chargers and quickly see what's available.

AM Broadcast Radio• AM broadcast radio is now available for listening through your audio system and can be controlled just like FM or SiriusXM channels. This gives you even more flexibility in how you can access your favorite sports, talk and news content - including receiving Emergency Alert System notifications.

---------

Ford Power-Up

12/08/2024

An update that’s music to your ears.

Just a quick note to let you know some refinements have been made to keep things running at their best. This update addresses the issue where radio presets have been affected during vehicle software updates. Talk about something to sing about.

Priority Update 23-PU0110-RAD-PS

The web site CAN tell you what CSP's you may need by vin number:

Have fun!

Brand new yes. 2023 Model I found some paper that said delivered October 2023 to the dealer.

Those are old. If your truck is still on Sync 23159, you are prime candidates for FDRS and the DIY route.

Explain to me like I'm 5 master sage.

FDRS = Ford Diagnostic & Repair System. It's the same software dealers techs use and allows you to update the modules yourself. It does require an investment in the tools needed to use it. Details are below:

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/ecu-module-programming-guide-using-fdrs.8249/

It is possible that the dealer did updates are you are still out of date. Even with the tools needed to do the updates, you can only update what Ford has released for your VIN. If this is something that you really want to explore, message me the VIN and I can run it through FDRS later and let you know where you stand.

Scanning through that thread now like I'm a senator voting on a 3000 page bill. tonight at midnight.

THanks for the update. I am going to PM you my VIn and look into this.

Currently 400 miles from home so with lots of summer trips planned so this may be something I "prepare" to do in July.

I am almost in identical scenario to that individual though.

2023 XLT Purchased 1 week ago for a substantial discount. Downside is no TLC has been given to this poor fellow. Will get it up to speed.

I'm a bit frustrated that it's not UTD but this looks "do-able".

FDRS is very easy and walks you through the process step-by-step. It is time consuming, but not difficult. You can look up some youtube tutorials on FDRS, too. If you are no rush, I run a loaner program for the cable if you don't want to spend $600 on it. Based on the waiting list, July is when I would be able to get you if I add you to the waiting list now. Details are below:

Thanks.

I'll have to check the version again to be sure what it is - last check was last summer I think.

" you can only update what Ford has released for your VIN"

So would that show up at the Ford web site or in FordPass?

Other than the BlueTooth being useless to stream music (which I haven't bothered trying recently), I haven't had any issues lately with the Sync.

Fordpass is only going to show the details of your last OTA attempt; not everything you have pending.

The newest APIM seems to improve wireless phone projection from what I've been seeing in the forums. Apparently, it's been released for everyone except 2021 trucks, so I don't have it yet and can't get it without being creative. I use a wired connection anyway, so I don't mind waiting. That I know of, there's nothing else in that update that benefits me anyway.

Thanks for the info.

I use a wired USB connection for my saved music (on thumb drive or SSD formatted in xfat).

If I want to use my XM Roady, Zune or iPod, instead of BlueTooth I use a connection to an FM transmitter device and tune the FM radio to an unused FM station - connects via their earphone/aux out but it's a bunch of wire spaghetti so rarely bother. - can't do that with our iPhone, no earphone jack anymore (ugh).
