Locking the rear seat in the down position

To bring the bottom seat back to the seating position, you use the handle. There is no cord to pull.

You are correct. I was remembering my 2013. It's a cloth pull cord.

I see you have a 2023 Lariat. Interestingly the 2022 Lariat had that storage as a standard feature for the 511A trim (ER). For 2023, Ford continued to list it as standard for the ER on the Build and Price website but it was not included. Just one of the many deletes that hit the 2023's.

Quite a few 2023 Lariat ER buyers complained about that when they got their trucks and the under seat storage was missing. It was listed as optional in the Order Guide but not everyone looked at that.

One of the many reasons why I bought a 2022 dealer mannequin in May of 2023 instead of a 2023 - no deletes.

Yeah the other side is the same. No lock there either. And my truck didn’t come with storage tray under there either.

ditto for me. 23 Lariat ER perhaps the lock came when you ordered the "locking under seat seat storage" but that option appears no longer available on the 2025's.

I believe it was discontinued, among many other things.

I might be tripping here, but I could have sworn the rear seats locked when pushed down. Do your truck’s seats lock (or latch) when lowering them back down?

Not the cheapest method, but I find two kids keeps it locked down pretty well

I checked when I bought my truck and on inspection, noticed the space on the seat under-frame with no lock cylinder. This lock cylinder is now an option, just like the spare wheel lock - and both lock cylinder options can be bought with a random key, or for a bit more $$ can be bought blank and then shop-keyed to the fob key. Separate part #s for each option.

I then thought about it and decided I didn't need yet another locked compartment, especially under cloth seats.

Today I learned there is a lock there.

I did not know that either, must have been an elusive OTA that placed it there when I wasn't paying attention Great to have it, tested and locked down. At least it will make it harder for honest people to break in and lift the stuff underneath
