Oh Ford. I guess there are to many configurations and software components to make us all right. I'm in a bind as my neighbors are pissed at the noises my truck makes. Including the WAL. I love the truck but I have no control to make it sound like all the other vehicles in my complex which are quiet. If you want any help to sort through your software update wows, please hire me. I've helped other billion dollar companies with the software growing pains get it right.

So I got this update Friday in my 2022 XLT and went into forscan to enable the toggles. I just updated everything I could using FDRS a few weeks ago but couldn’t update the bcm. Does this mean I still need the bcm update for this to work?

Yes. Once bcm is updated it will work.

Forscan and the cable can make you and your neighbors happier. Go ahead and just spring for the Mongoose, make yourself much happier doing your own updates.

Finally received an update from Ford (been 6 months) was excited as they must still know me. Was of course anxiously awaiting Blue Cruise(tm) update. It was the walk away locking. I followed the directions in the update, but there is no option to switch it on /off per the directions. Any ideas?

Or, you could just borrow one of mine for free dollars and zero cents. However, due to some changes Ford made recently, the one module you cannot update (with FDRS anyway) is the BCM to actually get WAL working.

How much does one risk warranty problems by going over to the "dark side?" For instance, I've got the part to install the overhead console motion sensor removed from 2023 vehicles, but wondered, since it's not officially supported for 2023 Lightning vehicles, whether I'm going to have Ford problems down the line, even if I successfully install it using the wonderful instructions folks on this forum have created for doing so.

If your meddling causes a failure, warranty won't cover it. The dealer has the burden to prove it, but I've heard that sometimes it's turned into a disagreement.

If you fry something when installing the sensor, or brick the truck using Forscan, yeah, warranty won't cover it. But if there is some sort of failure they blame on you installing the sensor and tell you warranty won't cover it, tell them to prove it.

As an aside, I suppose one of my pet peeves, I don't like it when people use the term "voiding" the warranty, such as "if I do xyz to my truck will it void the warranty?" The only thing that comes to mind that voids the warranty is if it's salvage titled. Warranty not covering a failure because of you doing xyz is not voiding the warranty. The warranty is still in effect and will still cover the rest of the truck.
