So I've only had this truck for a couple of weeks now, and have about 1,700 miles on it. I traded in a 2023 Raptor (37 package) and I had a Gen 2 Raptor before that, and I had a Gen 1 Raptor before that. I'm an avid mountain biker and ride 5 or 6 days a week, and it always involves driving off road (usually washboard dirt roads) to get to the trailhead. That's why I've owned Raptors, they are a dream off road obviously. Well I have been more than pleasantly surprised at how nice the Lightning drives in the dirt. On this 20 miles of dirt roads I drove today, it drove just as good as the Raptor, maybe even better. Of course if it was rougher than a washboard road, there wouldn't be any comparison, but this is a typical dirt road, and the Lightning shined. I've been hauling bikes and lots of gear in it, and anyone who thinks this thing isn't a real truck is mistaken.

People think it's not a "real" truck because of their range anxiety. But this is as real as it gets. Glad to hear Raptor owners aren't disappointed!

I helped my son and daughter-in-law out the other week by test driving an SUV they saw close to me... as I drove it out the dealership driveway, I suddenly realized some unexpected 'sounds', growls, hesitations, jerkiness, and feelings that weren't 'normal', seemingly....

then it dawned on me...

I hadn't driven a 'gas' vehicle in over FIVE YEARS.... crazy gas vehicles! oh my.

Going off-road at slow speeds, where all you hear is the rocks underneath you, zero engine noise, is a pretty cool feeling. Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

sw engineering manager,
People have retrofitted Lightnings to be nearly on-par with Raptor. You can put on pretty much the same wheels and tires, lift kits, and suspension upgrades.

Sure you can make one *look* like a Raptor, but it'll never perform like one offroad. Washboard dirt roads are one thing, actual hard core offroad is a whole different animal. Take it from a guy with 9 Baja 1000 class wins.
