@tommolog Another excellent video. Wondered if you have looked at the data via the OBDII port and CarScanner etc to see what the truck reports as its SoH? My 2022 just turned three years old this past month and mine still reports 100% SoH via the OBDII data. I suspect that's the result of slowly releasing some buffer capacity as well, but also question that as it's data Ford doesn't make really available to users so there's really no need to fudge it. The other thing (and maybe your charge tests show this) is that the available capacity was always a bit more than 131 kWh but the truck uses 131 for the calculation anyway. Either way, I'm just as happy as you are that mine still shows full capacity and no degradation after three years.
Do I need to purchase car scanner pro to see my SOH. So many menus where do I go to see SOH ? Thank you in advance.

The Sync menus have NO accommodation for the State of Health "SOH", yes you'll need an OBD2 reader and associated software/APP.

I see your point and can definitely appreciate it. I do think in this instance just to get the SOH of the battery and nothing else would be interesting. And I’m sure you could deliver it in such a way so as to not go over anybody’s head. These days we can check SOH of iPhone batteries in the settings so I think it might not be so off putting as it may of been in prior yrs.
I'd like to see a video of anyone showing how to see the SOH of a lightning HV battery. What scanner works well and what software to use to see the SOH. That would be a big help to a lot of people.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I bought the OBDLinkMX+ and connected it to my 2023 Lightning Lariat ER. I don't see any options in the app to read the HV battery SOH.
I'm having the same problem. Using Car scanner & Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth OBD II Scanner. I can't seem to find my SOH reading. Maybe I need to purchase the upgrade car scanner. Any suggestions anybody?

I use OBDII and it has helped me understand a bunch of things but still confusing on others. For example SOH of 98% makes sense when you divide 95.88 KWh by what the capacity was when new (98KWh usable)

Screenshot_20250905_002252_Gallery.jpg

But on the other hand you would think 99% of 95.88 KWh would be 94.92 KWh not 91.83 KWh

The gap widens as you go down and shrinks again as you go lower. It looks like Energy is the usable energy and displayed SOC should correspond to that.

In short, I don't blame you for staying out of it but I would watch any youtube posting on it if you didn't.
What scanner software did you use to see the SOH. I have Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth OBD using car scanner but can't see to find your screen shot.

One way to increase your SOH is to drive and fast charge. 😜

Now, many of you doubt that, but the SOH% on both my vehicles has INCREASED during a trip. Why? 100% SOC to leave, which balances the cells, and numerous fast charges taking it up and down which recalibrates things. My Lightning is now 100% (2022, early build, with several packets replaced). My Mach-E is like 96.5, 3 years old, went up also.
I never DC fast charge. Max charge is my 80 amp ford charger usually around 17.2 kw power hour. I haven't figured out how to see my SOH yet using Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth OBD II Scanner & car scanner software. Maybe I need to purchase Pro version?

From main menu what screen do you go to to see the SOH with car scanner ? Is that the car scanner pro version ?
The only difference between versions is that the free version will stop displaying values eventually. Pick the Lightning profile, SOH is on one of the like 12 screens.

I used car scanner for the first time today, this is my Soh [97.5 %] after 3+ years at about 88% Soc

I found my state of health under the Dashboard button. But I don't have the red background. Maybe under settings.

I have been babying my battery a lot more than you have but my SOH is worse at 98%.
I've got a terrible SOH. I suppose it's because I never DC fast charge. Vehicle is at 36% SOC. Showing 103 mi range left. At 70 mph I'm usually getting about 2/mpk. At 55 mph usually 2.1-2.3 mpk. My 2022 platinum has always been pretty constant at those mpk ranges.

Run your battery down below 10%, let it sit for a few hours, then charge in one single charge event to 100%. I bet you will see a dramatic difference in your SOH
Just to clarify…..this calibrates the SoH measurement by balancing the cells. It doesn’t change the true SoH.
You should also let it sit a few hours once back to 100%.

Even if I only charge with a 17.2 kwh charger, I don't use fast chargers. I don't believe paying the public chargers prices.
