Anyone else had problems with this system?

I've had the truck for 2 years but was living in a rental, so never bothered to set it up.

Now in my own house (yay!), I'm trying to get the damn buttons to work...

I've been both in the truck's manual, and also the HomeLink website. HomeLink has both a text description specific to the F150 and LiftMaster Garage Door Opener, and a video.

All 3 sources differ slightly from each other in the details.

I've tried all 3 and nothing seems to work

HomeLink has a 1-800 number that is nothing but a step-by-step description of generic pairing instructions.

Anyone had any success in getting to a live human at the HomeLink company?

Is there anyone out there that has gotten theirs to work?

Mine has always worked fine with LiftMaster (yellow learn button). You have to do the extra step they mention of pressing the opener's Learn button and then long pressing the HomeLink button for 2 seconds, pause, and repeat until the door operates. IIRC it works on the second long press.

Also you likely need to use a LiftMaster branded remote. The cheap knockoffs you can buy on Amazon did not work for me. I tried and was unsuccessful.

Here are the instructions I ended up saving:
  1. Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface, keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.
  2. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and hand held transmitter button. DO NOT release until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. (The rapid 􀀂ashing indicates successful training.)
  3. At the receiver (motor head unit), locate the “learn” or “smart” button.
  4. Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button. NOTE: Once the button is pressed, there are 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.
  5. Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for two seconds and release. Repeat the “press/hold/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process.

I’m still amazed that my ‘25 Lariat didn’t come with a garage door opener!

(I’m also still surprised that the Chameberlain/LiftMaster MyQ app doesn’t work with CarPla, so you can’t use the big screen in the truck to open your garage door)

With HomeKit in iOS 26 you can add your garage door opener as a widget.

Yea, I just assumed my 23XLT would have a garage door opener. Not! Power tailgate and Frunk but no garage door opener! Good thing I found a remote that came with the opener after 15 years!

Don‘t use an LED bulb in the door opener. That’ll mess with the radio frequencies. I did that and yikes. Hit and miss. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t.

Unscrewed the LED bulb and all fine.

You should not use a standard LED bulb, but these are designed specifically for garage door openers (they likely have some internal RF shielding):

I use them and have no problems.

What an awesome tip, several years ago I went on green light fling at the coaxing of my utility, National Grid they offered a deeply discounted set of LED A19 bulbs, I opted for a bunch of them and swapped out almost every lamp in the house with them, including the truck & motorcycle garage door lifts.

I never realized the cheaper version might have been the root issues with poor performance of signal reception!!

Home Depot has Genie 60-Watt eq lamps that are low interference specifically for garage lifts $16 a pair, I'll secure these when the old incandescent lamps burn out, (I put them back in for now)
