every search on the internet to get proof in black and white from ford leads me back to "ask your deal" they wont straight up answer the direct question. What should be covered and what is covered isnt the same thing. and if you leave it up to the dealership to pick, of course they are going to want to charge us.
Reading the warranty statement the port may well not be covered. I think the deductible goes back to Ford not the dealer, so I doubt they really care how it's covered. It's great you have coverage either way.

I did a Google search and it is covered under the 8 year 100k miles. I'd contact ford if the dealer doesn't honor the warranty.

i saw that too. but an ai search when trying to show irrefutable proof to the dealership, im affraid wont hold up. thats why i was trying to find it from ford. 250 deductible wont break me but it would be nice not to have to.

If the charging port isn't part of the HV battery system, I'm not sure what would be.
Maybe checking with another local ford dealer with an inquiry about the charge port being under warranty? It kind of sounds like you need to go to a different ford dealership for your warranty repairs. Just for curiosity I might ask my dealer if mine is covered under warranty.

As to whether the charge port is part of the high-voltage system, that reminds me of a warranty problem I had with a Nissan Stanza in the 1980s. Driving down the streets of Columbia, MO, at 20 to 30 mph, it blew a head gasket. No problema, I thought. We have an extended warranty that covers the drive train (the gasket is part of the engine, no?). There was language in the warranty, IIRC, that exempted components like gaskets subject to normal wear, etc. I protested so bitterly that the Nissan dealer gave me a substantial discount on reboring the engine block. But maybe the charging port gets the same subtle distinction: it's just a gateway to the vehicle's high-voltage system, yada yada. After that, until my Lightning, I never bought another extended warranty...

Day 3 at the dealer for mine now. I just got a call from them that it looks like someone worked on the battery before and didn't put it back together properly. There are pinched cables and safety issues beyond the recall work apparently.

Of course, the service records from the dealer where I bought it used just showed tire rotations, nothing about warranty work on the battery... Let's see what Ford is going to do about it.

Were you notified recently you are in the 25S18 program?

Please keep us posted how your dealer handles this issue, first time I have read about poor reassembly. Ford has all the previous battery history of your truck from it's VIN.

I knew the truck was in the recall program when I bought it in June, but have been waiting for parts (in Canada). I bought it out of town because exactly the spec I wanted became available with very low mileage. "My" dealer is not where I bought it, but they are great and I have known the manager personally for many years. They say the records of previous warranty work are there, and I have no reason to doubt this will all be taken care of.

The service rep promised me pictures of what went wrong, and I should be able to post them here eventually.

This is a moment to shine for Brian, not AI.
@Ford Motor Company , can you find out if the charge port is covered under the EV component warranty? And if it is, perhaps some assistance for @Storm Breaker so his dealer will play ball.

Would think you have a record of charging the truck prior to the repair & possibly even at the shop during the repair. If it was working prior to the repair & not afterwards it would be logical to conclude the shop broke it. A shop with integrity would realize that, but then that might be asking too much for some.
