Article about ICE V8 F-150's lawsuit related to reduced performance due to excessive oil consumption. So somebody or something mistook it for the Lightning it seems perhaps?

The Ford F-150 class action lawsuit is Bryan, et al. v. Ford Motor Company, Case No. 2:25-cv-12714-JJCG-KGA, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Someone just needs to stick it on a dyno and see.

I don't know how scientific this is, I don't do drag runs all that often so it's hard to tell.
But this is 2.5 years worth of motor torque filterered for anything over 450Nm.

At least from a theoretical point of view, and assuming that Ford isn't purposly reducing torque while scaling up the OBD-Data to trick us all that it's still the same *foil hat on* - I'd say nothing has changed.
The peak in 08-2025 is some sort of anomaly, not sure what's going on there, other than that either motor never goes over 510Nm which is pretty close to the speced torque of 1050Nm (510x2)

This reminds me of a true story back in 2023 where an atty used ChatGPT AI to write a brief to the court and AI created citations to cases that did not exist! The court sanctioned the atty.

https://www.cnbc.com/2023/06/22/jud...-written-filing-contained-fake-citations.html

Are posts on forums now being used to create news stories with made up "proposed class action" lawsuits? I better watch out what I post from now on in that case!

Well...could be.

Before saying it's all 'fake news' (groan) we should wait a while - a proposed class action may not show up until the class has been approved...but the fact that all the links in the MSN article seem to be to a Reuters story from February 3, 2025 "Ford faces proposed class action over F-150 Lightning performance" that "can't be found" is perhaps a sign that IF there actually was a case back in February, it did not get approved as a class action.

I like how at the beginning of the article it says “certain” lightnings. What the hell does that mean? Certain yrs? Certain battery sizes? It will be interesting to see if this is real or not. I just did a bunch of updates with fdrs a couple weeks ago. I’ve noticed no difference. My truck still feels like a goddamn rocket ship! Although I don’t usually drive it like that, it’s fun to put it to the rug sometimes just for shits. 😁

Which OTA took out the power? Oh wait I haven't had an OTA in a really long time. Still no WAL.

I did notice the other day the lack of power. Or should I say I hit the 100 percent output and felt like I wasn't going anywhere. I had to merge with a truck load of people and cargo from a shopping trip. Even the frunk was filled. I was merging from an on ramp that's suggested posted 25mph 2 lanes merging into 3 lanes of posted 65mph up hill that then merges down a long hill grade back into 2 lanes at a posted 65mph. I had to give it the juice to get up to speed and I was like WTF, the power seemed to have stalled and the power meter was at 100%, then I looked at the speedometer and I was already at 89mph... I slowed my roll after seeing that. :cwl:

I saw Pro's on youtube doing 0-60 at 3.9 Sec when it came out. My best has been 4.86 Sec measured by Car Scanner. I assumed it was because of the added weight of my aluminum Sport Rack, steel runners and my junk in the frunk. I haven't punched it for a while so I am not sure what it is now.

The question is if performance was reduced, which software update caused it and what was Ford's description of the OTA? I am perfectly fine if I lose a Second of acceleration to help Ford with recalls but if that really helps they should bump up the 8 year warranty. But I am not cool with it at all if this happened during one of the updates when we were told this is to improve our software update process. That would mean Ford can not be trusted to have access to our trucks. Suing Ford for losing a second of acceleration is greedy but suing Ford for lying and being sneaky would be perfectly fine with me ( IF they in fact did lie).

Aside from potentially AI generated law suit, if some owners have had performance issues (hopefully not due to old age), it makes me wonder if sharing driving data can result in Ford selectively reducing performance for trigger happy folks. Fisker limited the "Boost Mode" feature on its high-end Ocean SUV models, which provides maximum acceleration, to 500 uses over the vehicle's lifetime.

If I press my pedal to the floor I will do a 4 wheel rolling burnout. My poor Hankooks can’t handle the power output of the truck, so if ford is derating folks it certainly ain’t me lol.

It is very likely the truck with 3.9 second run included 1ft rollout. This means it’s realistically a 4.3 second 0 to 60 run.

So not sure that it is related, but, I have noticed a drop in deceleration with one pedal driving. When I got the truck way back in January of 2023 I could lift the accelerator pedal before the turn into my rural road and not have to use the brake pedal. The road is about a 6% downhill. Now I have to use the brake pedal to slow the truck. As a side note my Rivian still slows without using the brake on the same stretch of road.

Msn is not a news source, it is in fact satire. Because it's funny as hell watching people believe the BS they print. :cwl:

As far as performance goes, my truck still feels crazy fast, more power on tap than I care to access.

Another interesting aspect would be if they 'lowered' the performance in normal, and left it unlocked in sport, would it still be actionable?
