I’m contemplating getting an extended warranty, doing a little shopping, and looking for input from others…
Have a 2024, under a year old, well within factory warranty.

Question: what’s the upside to buying an extended warranty when I have over 2 years of factory warranty left versus buying right at the end of factory warranty period?

If I run the numbers on a 2022 with 35k miles (nearing end of factory Warranty) through both granger and flood, the cost comes back the SAME as my 2024 with 13k miles.

I know one argument that can be made are costs increase over time so paying today will be less than in 2 years but my counter arguments, or at least what I’m trying to rationalize is, as I didn’t financing this into my overall loan I have to pay it all upfront, I could mitigate the price increase risk by tossing the lump sum I’d pay today into a HYSA to close if not exceed that any difference in cost today versus cost in two years. In addition to the financial aspect, given they don’t seem to penalize for buying early vs late in the factory warranty, wouldn’t waiting to buy also reduce the risk of money lost if I purchased today but sold/totaled the truck in the 2 years that overlaps with the factory warranty?

Opinions or real world similar decisions made anyone willing to share?

For everyone buying from granger…are you buying online or calling them? Plan on taking advantage of the 0% but would like to put more down than they offer on the site.

There's an almost certainty that Ford will increase the price each of the next 2 years. By how much is the question. There's also a small chance that they change the rules for purchase for "older" vehicles by limiting mileage or what's covered... or significantly increasing the price on the contract for them... or deciding that you can't buy from an out of state dealer. A HYSA account is generally paying less than 4% these days - at least mine has dropped from that level to 3.25% - and you'll (probably) pay taxes on the interest, reducing your risk mitigation. I don't think there's a super strong argument either way, just depends on whether you feel ok with Ford not changing the rules sometime in the next 2 years.

To redeem Ford points you may have to call them. I purchased from Ziegler and they made the Ford points thing easy.

With all the talk of extended warranty prices going up after today on F150, lightning pick ups, etc. has anybody looked into it recently?
A couple years ago when I looked into the Flood Ford one, I was told be sure to get a technology package? Something that covered the key fobs and or the front headlights light bars, LEDs, etc., who has experience on buying a extended warranty with these features recently? I’m a buyer today if I can get all the facts straight. Thank you..!!

I’ll be following this thread as well since I am also in the market to purchase an ESP for my truck. I got one quote from a local Ford dealer but it was pricey.

72 mos / 85k miles = $3999.00 (14,166 miles per year)
84 mos / 100K miles = $4499.00 (14,285 miles per year)
96 mos / 125K miles = $5599.00 (15,625 miles per year)
Here in Calif we can’t get Grainger.

If you have a house, relatives, or an address out of the state I believe their are avenues to getting the Warranty.

Check with other dealers. Those prices are horrible.

I’m definitely looking to get before 04/02/26 price increase…
Was told by Flood today that theirs does not show up in the ford pass app, that this feature was removed but dealers can see coverage. They do sell key fob coverage plus all inside and outside LED lights protection.
I cannot determine this on Granger yet.

Granger x2, it's the exact same warranty product sold by every Ford dealer and supported by any and all licensed dealers. Nice peace of mind for trucks we'll likely own forever :)

You really don't know ANYBODY who lives outside California? They don't even have to do anything as far as I know..

No, not really. No family annymore and anyone I worked with that moved from Calif I’ve lost touch with or we don’t have that kind of relationship.

I just sent Granger an email. I’m hoping to hear back from them ASAP in regarding eight years 100,000 mile coverage with the LED inside & outside package and key fob protection if they offer that I was giving some questionable information from flood Ford still processing what they told me. Hopefully Granger gets back to me soon. I’ll be more than happy to share any information with the forum based on what I find out on this experience.

Anybody have Granger and does their warranty show up in the Ford pass app? I’ve been told it’s 50/50 at best that it shows up in app. Regardless it’s in the Ford system oasis..? I’m told.
