I got to try out this 8ft cable that solves the Tesla Supercharger “too short” and blocking 2 stalls dilemma, but it’s not cheap & not for everyone. Definitely fun to try out … but worth it? 👀⚡👇

Yeah, now I wish I would’ve waited for one of the pull up chargers, I’ve seen that feedback a couple times now. Even though it looks like a pull through its setback pretty far towards the bed of the truck. It’s easily as far if not more than a pull-up charger would be, but I’m going to try to make apull up chargers, I’ve seen that feedback a couple times now. Even though it looks like a pull through it’s setback pretty far towards the bed of the truck. It’s easily as far if not more than a pull-up charger would be, but I’m going to try to make a short video as a follow up during my road trip to Vegas tomorrow that shows it from a pull-up supercharger so that people can see that one as well

In three years of ownership I've never once been to a Tesla supercharger and all the spaces were filled. At most half filled, usually just three or four cars tops.

I'm gonna keep blocking two spaces and hopefully Elon loses his sleep at night from his suboptimal charging station design lol.

Problem is that if even half are full, there's a good chance you won't get a spot since they're going to be alternating spots. Seems that more and more of the newer stalls are popping up so that will be less and less of an issue as times goes.

In my 14 months of ownership, I have only once not been able to charge at a V3 SuperCharger (in Santa Barbara) - and I did not need the charge. I have successfully charged 24 times at SuperChargers. I have taken two spots a few times and several times been able to grab the farthest right pedestal and park in an empty spot to the right of it.
I have found several times that I could charge at locations that had the pedestal on the side without issue - although might have to not quite pull in all the way. The location in this video does have the pedestal pretty far back however. For your trip to Vegas, I assume it will be I-5 > 58 > I-15. That will let you see the massive 120 stall charger in Barstow and / or the new V4 station that is open to us in Baker. Also if you are not aware of it, there is a FREE (till the end of May) 200 KW charger at Rasor Road: https://www.plugshare.com/location/1598063

hopefully Elon loses his sleep at night from his suboptimal charging station design lol.
Not at all. Remember, when the early SuperChargers were designed, they were only for Tesla vehicles which ALL have the charge port in the same location (left rear corner). The SuperCharger layout was designed for Tesla vehicles. Many (or most) of the newer SuperCharger locations that were laid out after Tesla opened their network to non-Tesla vehicles are laid out to be better for vehicles with the charge port in different locations. Of course the longer cables on the V4 pedestals really helps too. With that said, the Lightning has just about the worst possible location for the charge port.

I’ve had my Lightning for 4 years and not needed one so it’s more of a nice to have than a need for sure. I am on my roadtrip to Vegas today and will use it along the way and have it in this roadtrip video using pull up charging in the sun and make a short that I can post sooner showing it as well 👍

Just so you know your discount code isn’t working. I have a big towing trip coming up this summer and I’m intrigued to buy one but at the same time I think I really don’t need it with me researching my stops especially at all the new V4 stations online and growing.

I emailed them, but I don’t think anybody’s checking over the weekend. Hopefully they’ll have it fixed on Monday. It’s so frustrating.😐

So when the Tesla stations first opened up for Ford EVs to use, I recall that ABRP would show you the capacity and the availability of the charging stations for the Tesla location you were planning to charge at... so if it was more than 1/2 full, you could start to find another option to avoid the problem where there wouldn't be 2 stalls next to each other. And then the availability function stopped working about a year ago, and I haven't been able to get it working again. So it meant I'd have to then look up the station on my Tesla app, and check the status there. Not a big deal, but still enough to cause even a tiny bit of charging anxiety, having to manage multiple apps and constantly check availability status, which I'd prefer to just not have to do any of that at all.

I'm definitely going to pick one of these up before my next road trip, so I can just set the route and never think twice about it. That eliminates the last real charging issue for any road trip I might plan going forward. I've been waiting for the A2Z extension cable, they keep delaying and delaying, good to see a viable option that now seems to do the job.

I've been to many Tesla chargers where there were no spots available,.. or there was only a spot or 2 open but I couldn't charge because I couldn't double park. I had to wait until spots opened up to where I could either double park, or get the far right spot.

I just ordered the 5 footer because I don’t want to go through that anymore. If there is only 1 spot open, I want to be able to pull right in and charge... not look for 2 spaces.
