Thanks for the response! I’m just trying to wrap my head around Sigenergys offerings as I plan to go with it for my home. I have 2 EV’s which are typically gone during the day and will be installing as much solar as possible on my roof, which seems to be ~16.5kw. The thing for me is I want to make sure I’m not losing potential production due to clipping. My energy consumption is between 1,600kWh and 2,400kWh monthly.

Based on that does a single 11.5 inverter with 3 of the 9kWh batteries make sense? My 4 largest continuous loads are my F150 Lightning 10.5kw, my BMW X5 45e PHEV ~4kw, my hot tub standby heat at ~4kw, and my AC at 3kw.


Couple things to add, your actual hourly draw at the 2,400 kWh (high end) is 3.3 kWh average, more like 2.4 kWh at 1,700. The 11.5 kW inverter is light work for that. Those 21.5 kW headline loads are max-rate numbers, not constant, Lightning at 10.5 kW only pulls that during an active charge session, hot tub at 4 kW cycles on standby, BMW only during its charge windows, AC cycles too. At any given moment your real draw is closer to 2.3 - 5 kW.

On the topology, the LoadHub sits between your meter and your existing main panel. Your current main becomes a subpanel feeding the rest of the house. The LoadHub manages the critical circuits and the routing I mentioned earlier. V2X handles one EV at a time on DC; the other car keeps charging on AC through the subpanel like it does today.

So for sizing: 3 modules covers your usage with room to spare. The reason to look at 4 instead isn't load coverage, it's solar absorption headroom on your sunniest days. Different question, different answer.

3.3kWh (80kwh days) 3 Modules has enough to cover up to 8 hours. 🚙 (31 hours with truck at 80kwh capacity)

2.3KWh (54kWh days) 3 modules has enough to cover up to 12 hours. 🚙 (47 hours with truck at 80kwh capacity)

A good case scenario is someone off grid who has 2 EV's. They could stack Batteries to run the house, correct? Then use the vehicle batteries as well if needed?
Yes this system is very flexible and seamless in operation, so it works for many use cases.

My system has 3 batteries and a V2X split across 2 inverters. When I have a power outage, the stationary batteries alone can hold the house all day with full 5 ton AC load in Houston TX. I can plug in the truck at my leisure to supplement that. It actually slowly switches over to using the truck battery. At any moment I can then decide to un-plug the truck and it will instantly go back to using the stationary battery with no disruption to the house. The vehicles are not required to keep the home going.

For off-grid, this system does also come with a generator port up to 64A continuous @ 240V. You could use that to re-charge the home battery until they are full and then turn it back off. You can also take your vehicle to an off-site DC fast charger and come back with a full charge, again with no disruption to the home loads.

For reference the only reason I use 2 inverters is that I am actually working with EOS Energy to see how much we can export for Virtual Power Plant. One inverter by itself could support my house loads including 5 ton AC (with easy start module).

I have been waiting (quite impatiently) for Enphase to release their bi-directional EV charger. It was supposed to be released last year but was delayed until the end of this year. I have an Enphase solar system so theirs is the only bi-directional charger I'm willing to consider.
I added two FranklinWH batteries to my Enphase solar array. The FranklinWH system has a standby generator input that can accept power from a Lightning or a PowerBoost with 240 output. I am having that added soon for hurricane backup from my PowerBoost F150. Info available on the FranklinWH site.

It's interesting that you say the HIS is dead, while @Ford Motor Company recently said in another thread that it is still for sale. I do see that you declare the HIS dead because it requires the FCSP, which is no longer sold by ford, so I understand your point. I wonder what ford's plans are for this then? I can't see where they would continue offering HIS and even continuing to work on it if it's a dead product, but no more FCSP would certainly be an issue. I wonder if they have a replacement for the FCSP in the pipe that will work with HIS?

I removed my FCSP and installed a SIGEN system earlier this month including the V2X. So far I've been impressed. Charges quickly and the data from the app is impressive regarding energy flow. We don't have a lot of power outages here but when we do I got tired of running a bank of extension cords into the garage and house to power the deep freeze, fridge, and coffee maker.

Quick disclosure up front: I'm with Eos Backup and Battery, a Houston-area firm, we mainly deploy on the foundation of Sigenergy/Pointguard technology (Including their awesome V2H EVDC bidirectional charger). The post below isn't a pitch, it's what I keep telling Lightning owners who reach out about the Charge Station Pro, and I figured it was worth putting in one place.

If you bought the Ford Charge Station Pro thinking you'd run your house off the truck someday, the news isn't great. The Home Integration System that was supposed to make that work is no longer sold, and Ford ended support for it.

Ford says it on their own Home Backup Power support page:

"The Ford Charge Station Pro, required for Automatic Home Backup Power, is no longer for sale."

That's the short version. Below is what owners are actually doing about it.

Why the CSP can't just talk to a generic inverter

The CSP has DC terminals inside it. The install manual shows where they are and how to land conductors on them. A lot of people see those lugs and figure they can wire up any inverter and call it a day.

It doesn't work that way. The DC terminals only go live when the Delta BDI inverter inside the HIS sends a command over the RS-485 link telling the truck's battery to close its high - voltage contactors. No HIS, no command, no power on the lugs. It's a permission problem, not a wiring problem. No off-the-shelf inverter solves it.

Path A - Pro Power Onboard through a transfer switch

Skip the CSP entirely. The truck's 240V / 30A bed outlet feeds a generator inlet box, which feeds a transfer switch on your panel. You're using the truck like a portable generator.

Owners on this forum have done it and posted follow-ups:

One thing that catches people: the transfer switch has to be designed for bonded-neutral / GFCI generators. A standard transfer switch will make the truck's GFCI trip the moment you connect. There's a Torque News writeup of exactly that, and the electrician-side discussion is on Mike Holt's forum if you want the theory.

Models' owners have confirmed working: Generac 6852, Generac 6853, Reliance Controls LinkX.

Rough idea of what you're looking at: about 7.2 kW continuous off the bed outlet, truck has to be home and plugged in, hardware around $400 - 800 plus a licensed electrician for the panel work.

Path B - Replace the CSP with a bidirectional charger

A few products now do what HIS was supposed to do. They plug into the truck's charge port and run DC bidirectionally to a home battery and inverter. The CSP becomes redundant.

What I install is the Sigenergy V2X DC Charging Module, 25 kW bidirectional, NACS or CCS1, paired with the Sigenergy hybrid inverter and a SigenStor BAT 9.0 modular battery stack. Each module is 9 kWh nominal (8.76 kWh usable). With the V2X module included, a single stack holds up to 5 batteries. Typical Lightning configs:
  • 9 kWh - 1 module
  • 18 kWh - 2 modules
  • 27 kWh - 3 modules

Scales up to 45 kWh in a single stack with V2X (5 modules), more by adding a second stack. There are other bidirectional chargers on the market, I won't speak to those because I don't install them and can't vouch for the install side. Happy to answer Sigenergy specifics in DM if anyone's looking at it.

Whatever you go with, none of these talk to the CSP. They replace it. So your existing CSP plus any wiring you ran to the DC terminals becomes legacy hardware.

What to do with a stranded CSP

Two options. Keep it as a Level 2 AC charger - at 80A / 19.2 kW it's still solid for extended-range owners.


Or sell it.

Just keep expectations realistic, because resale prices have softened pretty heavily now that the HIS ecosystem is effectively dead.

Anyway... that's where things stand right now.

Not trying to convince anybody to buy anything.

Just wanted a single thread that explains the reality of the situation clearly, because there's still a lot of outdated information floating around.
I am so glad to have come across this post before pulling the trigger with the HIS with SunRun. Because for the longest time, I’ve been wanting to integrate an HIS to my home alongside my FCSP, and I’m also in the works of getting a PPA with SunRun to be less reliant on the grid and have own source of power in case of emergency situations (Beryl 2024).

This has made me rethink my decision in regards to HIS.

Yes, Brian does say in that post that the HIS unit itself is still for sale. But in the link he provides about it, on buying a HIS unit, it notes that the FCSP is NO LONGER FOR SALE. And it has the following warning in Bold Italic print: If you do not have a Ford Charge Station Pro EV Charger, do not purchase the Ford HIS. https://shop.sunrun.com/products/su...9Z3G9qXfpTBbMMPPO2N59g-IgYhNO5rUwSAGazMvFuXPF

That means two things: 1) if you don't already have an FCSP, you can't install the HIS unit, and 2) if your FCSP dies, you're screwed, as the FCSP is required for the HIS unit to work. So, that's what this thread is all about, escaping that crippling limitation.

@Ford Motor Company has really screwed HIS owners by 1) not making backup power transfer work reliably automatically, originally advertised as a major Lightning feature, and 2) not supporting the supply of necessary parts for the HIS unit to work for the support life of the truck itself. Something that cost, with installation, more than 10% of the truck's price is just blown off. Makes you wonder what other truck features Ford might abandon in the future as not worth supporting in their estimation....

I’m a new Flash owner with extended battery (123 KWh), and realize this sounds like it still has the issue of needing to deal with initial spike currents potentially tripping the 30 A, but where is the community at on this? Any real world experience out there?

for those with the Sig Energy V2X system have you found a better way to coil and store the charging cable? My installer had to wedge my system between the home panel and the end of the house, and the hanging mount for the cable is a lot narrower than it should be. I miss the giant loop possibility from the old Ford charger.

Just curious is there any way to get the full 9.6Kw on board power to your house backup system. I understand its 7200 in the back and 2400 in the front. just wonder if some 2 wire setup is available.
I read somewhere else that it isn't possible to connect the two inverters in the truck to the same breaker panels as they are two seperate inverters and their waveforms are not kept in sync, and they are not grid tied like a solar inverter. You can obviously connect 2,400 watts of load to the one inverter and 7,200 watts of load to the other inverter, you just can't connect them to the same circuits and can't do more than 7,200 watts on a single load.
