I have 2 Universal Wall Connectors, both on their own 60A circuits.

If both are active they use wireless power sharing to limit themselves to 60A total. Otherwise, if only one is charging it gets the full 48A.

I got a Tesla UWC and it’s power sharing with a pre existing Tesla Gen3 WC,
daisy chained. Awesome setup.
I made a post about it a few months ago.
Greg,
Your posting and my reply back in February prompted me to recently buy the UWC and set the one at my house with power sharing.
What pushed me into doing it now was when my 3 rd party NACS to J1772 wouldn’t unlock from my Gen3 WC.

What code would that be?

On page 35 of the most recent Gen3 installation manual shows that you can use " GROUP POWER MANAGEMENT" Group Power Management Setup With Single Branch Circuit..

A Gen3 at the end of the daisy chain line only requires one lug per wire input, so essentially it isn't daisy chained.

The beauty of the Universal Wall Connector is that they provide 2 lugs per connection to easily facilitate Daisy Chaining them

Breaker and Branch Circuit Setup Group power management circuits may be installed in an electrical panel that supports other loads. If space is limited or the main power supply is far from the Wall Connectors, installing a dedicated load center may be prudent. See below for examples of Wall Connector group power management diagrams (one with sub-panel and one without). Each individual Wall Connector in below examples is capable of providing 48 amps when it is the only one in use. As more Wall Connectors begin plugging into vehicles, the system will automatically distribute power based on the total power allocated to the site.
@Maquis called it out.

That said, you can still control the Gen3s to load share via the WiFi just on individual branch circuits to prevent overloading. Or if your area hasn't adopted the code, if you don't get inspection, then that would certainly be a YMMV situation for daisy chaining.

Two points.

1) How do you lose an adapter at your house? I don't get that.
You haven't met my wife or seen my garage! I always put it on the water heater next to the EVSE. after charging. My wife will put it anywhere she wants, each time in a different location.

2) The charger is reporting energy from the house. You actually get in the vehicle about 7% less. I haven't yet compared your numbers, but the truck is 40% less efficient than a Mach-E, I'd expect the same for a Tesla sedan. But it's a 70%+ difference. Wow.
I understand the loss when charging. Most recent charge recorded after the 125 trip shows 54 kWh recorded on truck vs 59 kWh recorded as delivered on Wall Connector.

  • My 2024 Platinum Lightning lifetime efficiency history shows 2.1 mi/kWh
  • My 2023 Sold Lariat Lightning lifetime efficiency history showed 2.3 mi/kWh
  • My Wife's 2023 Tesla Model Y with 19" Gemini Wheels shows 3.9 Mi/Kwh
  • My 2023 Tesla Model Y with 20" Induction Wheels shows 3.6 Mi/Kw
The Lightning platinum EPA published range is 300 miles where the Lariat was 320 miles.

I haven't looked recently, but the Mach-E was around 2.7, while the Lightning was 1.8.
