After Market Chargers

Hi! Can someone share the best after market chargers 240 volts. The one that came with our Lightning keeps showing “overheating” & unfortunately I goofed on 36 months or 36,000 mile warranty & we are at 41,000 miles. If there is a thread already - feel free to point me there.

Are you asking about a permanently wired home EVSE, or a plug in mobile cord based EVSE.
BTW for a terminology standpoint, both are EVSEs, not chargers. The charger for L1 / L2 charging is built into the truck.

I'm using Ford Charge Station Pro, so have no personal experience with anything else. Several people have mentioned the Tesla Universal wall connector (the universal version future proofs you in that it gives both NACS and J1772 connectors). That is likely what I would have gotten had I known better when I bought my truck. I'll let other people make additional recommendations.

BTW, suggest editing your profile to include your truck model year and trim level. Many questions differ depending on those two pieces of information.

I have the EVIQO level 2 charger. Got it from Amazon. Have been very happy with it. It's hardwired and requires a 60amp breaker.

Second the Emporia. Also can't go wrong with the Tesla Universal Wall Connector.

I have installed 2 ChargePoint Flexes now and both are working flawlessly. Hardwired with a rebate from the utility that gives access to rebates from them, it can function as a “smart charger” or a dumb one.

Personally, all I ever do is plug it in and have t used the “smart” features after the 2nd charge. Would recommend as swapping the charging cable from J1772 (?) to NACS is super simple if mildly handy, if ever needed.

Emporia would have been the other I would have gone with, lotsa people like the Tesla, but there are scattered reports of the Grizzl-e (sp?) having issues that would give me pause.

I bought the Canadian made Grizzley home charger and I’m completely happy about it. Took an hour for my electrician to install and is very well built. It needs a 60 amp circuit and has an app that’s easy to use and programmable to charge during off peak hours, if that makes a difference. $500 at Amazon.

I picked up the Grizzl-e classic for $250.
It is only 40amp but a good price with no frills. Works great and was easy to install
