my thoughts, too, as the unloading, reloading process would be very problematic - so, the logistics here is incredible when you start to imagine all of the situations, locations, and dealers that these vehicles are ultimately going to .... you can't just load a bunch of Lightnings from the REV center onto a single rail car just because they are all built one after the other - these vehicles are all going to different regions, different states, different cities... it's a logistics miracle, not to even mention the transferring and reconnecting of rail cars along the way at various terminals and yards.

I hit the lottery, and a Miracle is on the way : )

It's a nightmare. Especially when you then consider that it's not just one engine/engineer that does a straight shot. These cars stop at every junction because they get reshuffled. 1 train becomes 3, 3 becomes 6 or 9, etc. And they're all reliant on a reciprocal train to be there when they arrive.

I think we all have more appreciation for 'trucking' in general after all this has taken it's course, and certainly more for 'trains' and all they STILL do for the American transport economy. It's a miracle.

I drove/transported huge brand new 45' diesel motorhomes for several years - now that I think back, THAT was also a miracle! Can you imagine going from paying $2.50 for diesel to over $5??
A 1,500 mile delivery would make that QUITE A BIT more out of your pocket. Yes, YOUR pocket. The driver pays for all fuel. : / Crazy, I know.

Wow... that didn't take long. Just arrived into Chattanooga. I hope it's a short stay.

Now it’s moving. It’ll be there before you know it!

I’m heading into a rats nest that is Baltimore. I doubt I’ll get out of there until mid day tomorrow.

On a different note, we’re about 20 pages behind the largest build week thread. I’m not competitive or anything. Just throwing it out there…

The way I see it, we want to be shorter, cause that means we got our trucks sooner and we bitched less.

Unfortunately you may be right. The 7/18 folks only have 13 pages and they’ve got folks shipped.

But I mean, we’re by far more entertaining. I bet they’re not learning everything there is to know about trains.

20 pages behind? It's not because of you and I. I don't think we ever leave except for the occasional nap.
Baltimore is rough. Hopefully cars are already lined up just waiting on yours to make a full train to your rail yard. What was it Twin Oaks?

Im pretty sure half of my posts are in this thread. Actually definitely more than half.

Yea twin oaks is the destination. There’s already 4 cars there to my dealer so hopefully it’s just waiting on me.

It may be dated info but I read a post somewhere that stated there is only one train a day into Twin Oaks. Looks like I may end up getting to my rail yard first if you get stuck in Baltimore.

According to NS I was in a yard outside of Pittsburgh. Must be getting close though, the dealer called and we’re now playing the “add-on“ game. :sneaky:

That might be true still. It’s a pretty straight shot from Baltimore up to twin oaks, not too many junctions, straight rail.

And its scheduled to arrive at Twin Oaks around Sunday midnight and it’s only 113 miles. With a straight shot like that, it’ll only take 5-6 hours. that means it won’t leave Baltimore until about 5-6pm on Saturday. So it’ll either sit, or it’s going to take 26 hours to get from Cumberland PA to Baltimore, which is insane.

How are you tracking it with NS? Phone? Or is there a more convenient method?

I’ve gone ahead and CSX is now on speed dial for me. I have it programmed with the pauses to enter the prompt and rail cars…
