Lately I started charging my extended range truck using the Ford Mobile Charger at 110V only because the receptacle has more convenient access. My truck is not a daily driver so it sits idle sometimes a few days. I feel 110 is likely easier on the charger and truck batteries; however, I wonder if all the extra hours charging is detrimental to the the charging system (charger and truck's battery overhead)?

If my electrician ever gets around to me I'll get the 80 amp installed, meanwhile, I am curious if anyone has considered the pros and cons of faster household 220V vs slower 110V. Thanks.

110v doesn't allow you to precondition the battery with a departure time.
110v can't power the heater if you remote start, it will pull house current.
There is no difference on the impact of 110 vs. 220 on the battery or charging system.
Yes, it's possible that the Ford Mobile Charger fails less than it does on 220v, where it fails too much.
There is a higher loss from the wall to the vehicle with 110 than 220. Doubtful you'll notice.

120v charging with EVs is generally less efficient than 240v. And of course slow as sin. However, there seems to be no clear evidence that it hurts the vehicle. But you will have losses in charging relative to the 240v options.

As said above. It's inefficient, slow and doesn't precon the battery.

I don't think it's any better or worse than 240v as far as battery goes.

The one advantage is that there are 110v plugs everywhere.

Losses when charging at 120V are about 30% vs 10% at a moderate 240V rate. If you charge 50 kWh per week, you’ll use approximately an extra 15 kWh. Use your electricity rate to figure the extra cost.

These are rough, mental calculations, but should give you an idea.
