I agree. I do have the LKA on, but it does it when I don't have BC or even just CC on. My main travel route here, Hwy 98 on the Florida panhandle, is very flat and very straight. If there's no traffic requiring me to change lanes, it's not unusual to get it a couple of times on my drive. Seems to be minimal resistance required to satisfy it, though.

All you need to do is put your hand on the wheel and apply a bit of pressure, very little, and the truck won't bother. Just the weight of my hand and arm is all it takes. Shouldn't have to tug on the wheel once in a while.

I used to have a Tesla and folks would put a weight on the wheel to satisfy it, but a friend of mine got stopped and got a warning for doing this, but it was several years ago when folks were doing this and not even looking at the road.

You can deactivate lane keeping assist button , but again you loosing an important feature. I usually give a small steering wiggle and that solves the nagging.

Question: As a non-yet Lightning owner, is the "nag" an audible alert at the initial stage? On my Tesla, the "nag" starts with a visual alert on the center console and will escalate to include an audible alert. I don't find the visual alert terribly annoying, but if it is audible right out of the gate, that would bug me.

That's what's annoying about it, we might as well just steer ourselves.

I am definitely one of those in the camps of wanting to explore adding a weight to the steering wheel to prevent these nags. Don't worry, Ford; I AM watching and I AM keeping my hands on the wheel. It would be unconscionable to not do so as a vehicle driver.

In my experiments, the best way to prevent nags on long stretches of road (where BC doesn't work) is to hold the steering wheel at the 4-5 o'clock position with a slight and constant downward pull; usually this is enough to keep the warnings away.

I will add that I am one of those that hates this feature (lane assist) due to the constant nagging about hands on the wheel. My hands are on the wheel!!! At this point I immediately turn it off as soon as I activate cruise control.

Back when I had blue cruise it was not a big deal because my hands weren’t on the wheel. I think they need some type of capacitance sensing that would actually indicate that hands are on the wheel.

Used to own a Tesla and it was the same way. My sons 2025 F350 diesel is also the same as our Lightning.
