Apple CarPlay Bigger Maps in iOS 26

I’m running iOS 26 Beta and was poking around in the settings today while sitting at a stop light. I noticed now you can make the map bigger. Is this a version 26 only? Or was it available prior and I just didn’t notice?

Oh wow had no idea this was a CarPlay thing. I just figured our trucks didn't support multi-touch. Apple is so weird about these things sometimes.

Yeah, we touched on it briefly in another thread. Really hoping we get it. Ford's native maps app has multi-touch but not Apple's (or Google's, I believe) yet.

Finally! I’ve always hated how squished the map is when you’re in that mode. It would be even better in my opinion if the map was completely vertical on the left and the right half of the screen had the other two sections.

What would really be nice is if they gave us some hi-res maps with really good detail, you know... like Tesla. These screens should be more than capable. Maybe they just really can't or the bandwidth of the wireless CarPlay.

I use wireless Apple Car Play w/Google Maps on with Satellite view. Really good resolution satellite view.

But you also have Tesla's, there is still a difference.

I use AA for maps, and I have not paid special attention, but I'm all but certain that this works in AA. Will look tomorrow to be sure

I'm always amazed that Apple is years behind android auto on basic features.

For nav, i use Waze through AA. Best map out there.

If you mean the map button (which is a white arrow on a blue background):

then yes I agree it will give you the full-screen map. However what we are talking about is if you are in multi-view, the map is currently just the top half of the screen. But it looks like it will be more like 2/3rds of the screen on the new iOS plus the bottom dock gets a little smaller. See link from @watts/up's post above (here). Here are the pics from that link:
