Hey everyone.

First, thanks for reading with my questions. I’m new to the forum and appreciate the help despite having not contributed yet.

My temp gauge has been sitting above the middle point even with very little driving. I noticed it on a road trip where I was getting slow DCFC speeds (~75Kw) and just assumed it was because it was 111 out and I had been doing 75 MPH for the last hour.

Today I got in my truck after it sat for at least 12 hours and the temp gauge was still 3/4.

Is this normal for the weather? Today's high was 105. What is the temp range on that gauge? I come from Toyota’s and the needles never move on those. Maybe this is just a more accurate gauge?

I also grabbed a screenshot of an OBD2 pull. Is %.05 degradation normal at this age and millage?

It’s a 2024 flash, no max tow package, ~7700 miles.

Perfectly normal on the temp meter. I'm in the SW and also in regular 100+ temps. Ever summer, it'll just hang out in that area. The truck will kick the A/C on if it feels it needs to. One night, my wife woke me up because she thought I forgot to turn the truck off. It was charging and the A/C was on high which is very loud in the garage.

You can get it to cool down by driving in Tow/Haul or Sport mode. Those two drive modes kick on the battery cooler, which uses a little more energy than normal. I do this when traveling and I'm about 15-20 min from a DCFC stop. Otherwise, I let the truck do its thing.

I wouldn't trust the degradation readout from the OBDII reader. My guess is that it is using State of Health reading and subtracting from 100. SOH is NOT the same thing as degradation. Not long ago, I charged to 100%, drove down to 14% and then back up to 100% to give the BMS a good reading. After that, I think my kWh maxed out about 3% below the STATED capacity. I never checked to see what the capacity was early on so not sure how accurate that is. But 127kWh after 40k miles is not too shabby. Truck works great.

Dude. Thank you! This is all very reassuring and using Tow/Haul or Sport to cool the pack is brilliant. I was getting very low DCFC speeds on a road trip in this weather - if I had used the build in navigation would it have done pre-conditioning for me? Either way, thank you again!

Yes and no. Ford nav will (or has for me in the past) precondition the battery for certain DCFC's. I've only used EA or Tesla stops. It works for EA, not for Tesla. FYI, for the cool weather folks, the Sport/Tow modes do not heat the battery. That trick only works for cooling it.

The only thing I would add is, you may want to check your fluid levels to ensure they are at the appropriate level and there is no air in the lines.

I will add that I just left the high desert and I still pulled 165kW to start and at the 10min mark was usually around 90-100kW when I DCFC’d. Temps were 100-110F. I usually had high batt temps like yours once I was driving but when I would leave my garage in the am it would be centered. Granted it also cools off a ton in the Mojave overnight than compared to Phoenix or Vegas.

What you’re showing I feel like is a bit strong of an effect and like the above user I would check the fluids and make sure they’re not low.
