Agree. Our second vehicle is a Highlander Hybrid and I'm itching to sell it and go full electric. Unfortunately in Montana an EV will need to get real life 200+ mile range in -10 degree weather going 75+ mph before I can make the switch. After having driven my Lightning for a few months, and seeing some of the new EVs that are coming out (e.g, the Kia EV9), I'm not sure I could ever buy a gas-powered car again.
Yep - had the Lightning 6 months and made such an impression that replaced the Lexus with a MME. Fully electric now. After having driven my Lightning for a few months, and seeing some of the new EVs that are coming out (e.g, the Kia EV9), I'm not sure I could ever buy a gas-powered car again.
I was one of the first with a battery module replacement on my 22. My truck showed no signs of problems. Ford was proactive in calling me and arranging the repairs. I know others were not so lucky but I have put another 20k on the truck since the module replacement with no issues. Plenty of DCFC in that 20k also. What do people with Battery Module replacement think? Did you consider going back to ICE at the time of trouble? How about after some time passed?
As of now, with no real reliability issues, I am sold on EVs and can't see myself going back to ICE. I am not sure what I would be thinking if I was one of the folks that had to replace modules twice even under warranty.
Definitely doable...but we take several trips from Billings to Missoula every winter. About once every other year we end up sitting/traveling below 10 mph for 30mins to an hour due to a semi going off the road. Have also been diverted around certain passes and thus had 50+ miles added to the trip. Won't risk it with a family and such a small margin for error.I drove a 2023 Lariat ER from Fargo ND to Spokane Wa last winter in below zero temps and and a good share of the trip was through Montana. It is doable but you have to plan your trip. If you charge at home then it is a non issue unless you drive over 200 miles each day.
