Body differences between EV and ICE

I'm just wondering why the Lightning does not get the same body stampings as the ICE F-150? The Lightning looks extremely plain and outdated compared to the 2025 ICE version. Did the engineers have a reason for this?

Assuming Ford is still losing money on each Lightning, I imagine they didn't want to invest in the tooling. Both the panels you highlighted won't work for a lightning directly (charge port/gas door).

Smoother lines and less drag is what I assumed. In my eyes the Lightning looks more modern and sleek, whereas the stamped panels look dated.. All a matter of opinion I guess.

Those lines add friction to the airflow over the vehicle . ford went to great lengths to keep the truck as areodynamic possible , it’s that simple . Same reason the front end is slightly lower.

Interesting. Since aero is critical for ICE vehicles too due to CAFE rules, you would think that they'd use the same stampings for all trucks to save money.

It's been a while but if I recall correctly, cafe rules is based on a calculation across your entire model line up. Mach e and lightning is going to help balance ice efficiency.

Of course someone will correct me if I am not correct.
