Did you ever get an update on this? I spent over an hour on the phone today to be told NO. Since it was put in service as a Demo at the dealer, the warranty starts the day they got it. SO I am out 6 months of coverage on all warranty levels. Now if I add a Ford ESP, it will also start at that date. So if I by an 8 year plan, it will still start the date delivered to the dealer and not when I bought it. What can @FORD do about this??
Still working on it. I was told yesterday by Ford that the dealer needs to have their warranty administrator change it. Just did this yesterday so waiting.

Depends upon the state and whether the vehicle was tagged and titled. In Virginia, I’ve seen it as a mixed bag. The two dealers by my house did not tag the their demos. However, I have been to other dealers in Virginia where the mannequin had regular Virginia license plates on it. My expectation is that trucks that had been previously tagged and titled will be sold as used while those that were not can be sold as new. But again, state law will control.
Correct.

These are still new vehicles. I have purchased two of them.
They were never registered so they are new vehicles and you are entitled to the $7500 tax credit
the warranty should start at the day of sale and 36,000 miles on top of the mileage at Delivery. Or in some cases, they are adding the 42 month 42,000 mile warranty from the beginning of the delivery to the dealer.
Because in your state they don't title them as demos...

My brother just bought a mannequin in PA. It was titled new because the dealer never titled it. If the dealer had titled the vehicle, then it would be used. This depends on what your dealer decided to do prior to you buying it and it should be clear in the paperwork.
Depends on state law, as stated above.

OK. Mine was supposedly escalated at FORD and I got tired of waiting. Guess I will call the dealer again.

I am waiting for a call back but I just talked to the battery electric team and they said the warranty starts the date the dealer received the car since it was put into service, even though not registered, yet sold as new. She said that has been the way for a long time with all cars. So I dont think my dealer will make much headway except to maybe add some time/ mileage to the basic warranty. Be said that was all he would be able to do yesterday.

So I was gonna buy an ESP anyway, so maybe this isnt really an issue excpet maybe for a deductible in that 2.5 to 3 year range of ownership that normally would have been covered

My dealer added 6 months and 6,000 miles to my warranty to extend it on my mannequin. It had 4,700 miles on it.

I have another related question . . . how about the Ford connected services - Like Blue Cruise? Mine says it expires 3 years from the date the dealer put the truck in service - June 2025. So I am still out 6 months on that. Anyone seen anything different?

Just heard back from my dealer. The warranty period for FCTP vehicles start when it is put in service as a demonstrator. However, the warranty is a 42 month 42k mile warranty. If yours was not setup properly when you take deliver, the dealership warranty administrator will have to make the correction - which I am not waiting on. So essentially, you dont get any extra time and might lose some time depending on how long you buy it after the 6 month hold. Do will gain extra mile coverage assuming you buy it with less than 6,000 miles.

"The Warranty Start Date (also known as the in-service date) is the date a new vehicle was purchased or when it was first put into service (for example as a dealer demonstrator), whichever occurred first."

So I am being told that they are adding the extra miles to make the B to B warranty 42k, but the in service date will stay the same .
However, as I check the FORD site the last couple days, the warranty section in my account for both trucks (both mannequins) says:

OOPS!
Something went wrong. Please refresh or try again later.

Any one else with a mannequin seeing this? Or anyone else for that matter?

Not to get anyone in trouble, but when i bought mine, my salesperson told me a few employees and their manager took their mannequin out on a country dirt road to "have some fun with it and see what it can do." Because of his story, I will never purchase a mannequin in the future lol. I know its theirs and they can do whatever they want, but when there are less than 5 or 6k of these trucks in the world at the time, and there's a huge demand, you treat it like gold. ESPECIALLY when you're planning on adding a huge markup!

TBH, it's a truck and it was made to take abuse. If it were a sports car, or ICE I would definitely be concerned about that, but not really with the Lightning. Just my 2 cents.

Also wanted to add: make sure they update the Bluecruise maps and car software --BEFORE-- you take delivery. Don't let them put it off because the software takes a while.

When I finally got some answers, the general sales manager said it's normally a $100 option at time of sale. Since my sales rep botched it they gave it to me complimentary. Others here have said they either paid the $100 or their dealer also gave it to them. I think $100 is reasonable for it. Shows up as extended service plan in the app.
