Change in nav distance indication

I first noticed this a week or so ago - maybe after a recent update.

On the 15 inch center display when Android Auto is selected (so it's showing the map), by default it shows a search bar with two "suggestions" entered. Those two locations would give the distance, time estimate, and estimated battery upon arrival. That would update as I drive. Very commonly, the two suggestions are Home and Work since I routinely drive between the two. Recently the distance, time and arrival SoC are no longer updating. The image below correctly shows where I am, but the information for Work has not not updated since I left home.

If you select one of the selected locations as if you want navigation to it, during the timeout before it starts navigating, the the distance, time, and arrival SoC are updated to reality as seen below:

I had not noticed, but I'm doing a trip to Logan Airport Friday morning, I'll see if my AA is malfunctioning like you show.

Yes, this is how it's operated for a long time.

It doesn't update the distance to unless you select it. You should also notice that there is discrepancy in the distances when searching VS navigating to.

I think it's to save on processing power and gps usage.

Maybe yours is that way, but mine definitely was updating the miles and time estimate when not selected. I almost never use the truck for navigation, but would routinely watch the time and mileage tick down, and maybe the arrival SoC. As recently as a week or so ago I was watching it tick down while answering the question of how close does it get before removing an item from the suggestions list (a little under a mile).

Exactly, you're using gmaps. Performance will vary depending on your phone.

I observed this yesterday. What I observed is that it updates on a lesser interval than "instant". I saw it change like every 30 seconds or so. But it definitely was changing. I didn't try to figure out how often it updated.

Just a follow-up on this, the distance remaining updated the few times I glanced at it, the projected arriving SOC was on target the whole trip.

Maybe it updates less frequently depending on the SOC if your phone and/or power saving settings?

I haven't noticed the behavior @K6CCC is describing but I have noticed AA eats my phone battery quickly. I usually plug in while driving for that reason.

As a followup, yesterday I noticed it did update at least once. I had the search minimized for most of the afternoon driving around so the suggestions not there, but late in the trip the search suggestions were there and shortly before I got home I noticed it had updated. I don't know if I will go anywhere today, but I will pay attention driving into work (the screen captures above were taken near work).

I have also noticed this. It seemed to coincide with the BlueCruise 1.4 update.
